Kimber's new 357 carry gun

http://www.guns.com/2016/01/19/kimber-k6s-stainless-steel-357-revolver-video/

NICE!!!

Given the high level of fit and finish on the few Kimber products I have shot and seen I would hope that trend continues into the revolver. Especially the trigger. The only thing that concerns me is the thin top strap. I am not an expert here but I believe that is the weakest point of a revolver. Put enough hot loads through the gun and I wonder if they are going to see cracks in the future? Just wondering because one place S&W and especially Ruger could save weight in their revolvers is taking some material off the top strap. Considering they don't do that and have what appears to be sufficiently thick (and in the case of Ruger, robust) top straps I am somewhat concerned about the lack of material on this Kimber revolver. I am sure it will take years before we find out either way.

In the meantime it is an impressive little carry gun.

The top strap looks ok to me.
In the revolvers that I broke, it was the action that got battered into submission by lots of full powered ammo.
The damage was internal causing difficulty in cocking the hammer and rotating the cylinder.
It was fun while it lasted!
Btw I broke a sw 357 and a sw 44mag.

The parts that broke, are they not replaceable? I've replaced many parts on my revolvers. I am more concerned about cracked frames since that is the only part that can't technically be replaced. The top strap is probably going to be fine, it just appears smaller to me than other 357's. Maybe it is due to the odd shape?

Just inherited a Taurus 617 from my late father.

Was worried that it would be too small in the hand, but feels ok.

Pic is not mine.

Have you thought about calling S&W and ask them about repairing the guns for you? I have a friend who has an older S&W 686 that breaks parts every so often. They grumble a little bit but they fix the thing for free every time. He just has to pay for shipping.

A little off topic but I also must say he has bought two Rugers (one GP 100 and one SR 45) on consignment from a LGS. Both guns had issues when he bought them. Ruger took them right back and fixed them for free.

=============
This was a long time ago maybe... 30 yrs back.
The 44 was repaired at no charge by SW. At the same time, I had them install a 6" bbl, a la Dirty Harry.
see the humorous video clip...
The 19 (357) was repaired by a local smith and sold so I could buy an M27.

there is a lip in the chambers that catch the front of the brass
at the rear of the cylinder it looks different, looks like the ammo is sticking out the back more
but when you close the cylinder it sits where it should be compared to the frame and the rear of the brass
I haven't measured it
I'll get a pic of it when I get home.
