Hey Stangzilla,

Do you have problems/difficulties  extracting fired shells from the single action? You might need "moon clips" -stamped sheet metal piece to aide in extracting the spent rounds. Perhaps a stiff rod around the diameter of a pencil could be used. The lip in the cylinder chamber is for the round to headspace properly since the 45 acp round headspaces on the case mouth not the rim like 45 Long Colt round. Smith and Wesson Ejector model revolvers and Colt New Service revolvers (later ones) chambered in 45acp had a similar lip in their cylinder chambers.
When you close the cylinder and still see the rear portion of the rimless case exposed, I would suggest this is normal. Since the 45 acp round is headspaced in the cylinder chamber correctly, the exposed portion of the case or space that it appears to be protruding out of the cylinder is where a "moon clip" could be ultilized.
I hope this helps.

Good Shooting,
Loyalhunter

Oops, forgot the single action already has an ejector rod buit in. Guess you don't need moon clips which are appropriate for double action revolvers.

I didn't get to shoot bullseye, so i can't say how the grouping is.
but i did have a little time to go silhouette range to see how the recoil feels, and get a rough idea of its accuracy on steel targets
I was pleasantly surprised at how the felt recoil is very minimal for 45acp
i guess the weight of the revolver and the birdshead grip makes for a nice shooting gun, even with the shorter barrel. by the end of the session i got used to the birdshead grip, it is a little different but comfortable.
the SA trigger is very nice too.
accuracy was not bad either.  best i can tell from shooting steel targets with a u-notch rear sight.  shots were pretty consistent.
this is my new favorite revolver!

Curious about that acp vaquero....
What kind of ammo did you try in there?
Have any misfires?
What, Me Worry?

Half American eagle, half blazer steel case ammo. Both 230 grain fmj.
No misfires.

Ok! I had a super Blackhawk in 44 but sold it.  :( regret it now.
Blazer economy ammo is supposed to be aluminum cased.
That vaquero looks like a funner gun than the 44.

Picked up a Smith and Wesson model 19 in 4 inch barrel last month. Already have a 6" model 19 which is a good target gun. Had to get the "Combat Magnum" in 4 inch. The fighting man's revolver from it's creation in the 1950s. A favorite with lawmen till the 1990s.

Love those grips!   The bluing and color case hardening is first class, you can't get that anymore.

Nice. I had one. It was my very first centerfire pistol.

brought home the New Vaquero 44magnum today
will maybe shoot it this weekend
nice finish on the stainless.  grips are by Altamont.  seems like the stock grips like on my other Vaquero but with checkering.
trigger seems very good.  similar to my other vaquero
being that its a 3.75 inch barrel, i know i wont be shooting it that much.  its more of an addition to my Ruger revolver collection.
I'll have to make some special reloads for it so it wont hurt my hand as much.
overall i really like it.  its a nice looking, beefy little single action.
I think with the reloads it'll be pretty fun to shoot.

with the 45acp

and the Single Ten and Super Blackhawk

Hey Stang,

From the pictures it appears the cut outs in the cylinder are pretty deep. It might just be the lighting. So I am curious if it is a 5 or 6 shot?

That's a great collection of six (or whatever capacity each gun is) shooters!

Now you can be like this...
