although theres a significant price difference id rather rock a surefire 60 round, or two clamped 30rd pmags.
surefire is about the same length, just added width.  the two clamped mags would be over 2 inches shorter and only an inch and a half wider than the pmag40


extra long 40 round ak mags arent as bad because they curve more. 40 round ar mags dont make that much sense. looks stupid like a saiga 12 twelve round stick mag.  not exactly 'high speed low drag"

...because whether or not it looks stupid is the primary consideration...   :D

I can see the appeal.  It's ten more rounds without a reload; which you don't get with clamped 30s, and for the same money as one Surefire you could have about 160 rounds on hand.

Not to mention after dropping a Surefire mag, it's reliability goes away.
