FYI there never was a National Match AR/M16 hence no such thing as NM AR parts. Last gun with NM specs was the M14

Shiny but not the same or closer for that matter. The bcg in the original post was a Les Baer ar-15 chrome national match bcg. Cracks are due to inadequate hydrogen embrittlement relief after the chrome plating.

I saw some bolt carriers and complete bcgs made in
China at the shot show.  It was scary because you can't
Tell them apart from USA made parts. 

JPE bolt carriers are non mil spec and they are fine.

So I don't think it's a mil-spec thing but more about what company
Makes them and how they are made.

Lugs snapping off is another story.  If the upper receiver
Slot to align the barrel is out of spec and the barrel is crooked
You will break lugs off. It is often overlooked when assu an upper
And this is on mil-spec uppers. From major companies!
