Request the forum to take a look at all firearms which we are not allowed to posses in Hawaii.

Please provide at least the following information:

Make / Model:

Caliber:

Why we can't have it here (what restriction prevents it) i.e., firearm to heavy, no available magazine capacity of < / = 10 (Spring XDM), to heavy (ruger .22).

LAR Grizzly Pistols with barrels longer than 7". They're pretty heavy pistols.

I remember these came out in several calibers; 45 WIN MAG, 10mm, 357 Magnum, 50 Action Express and a conversion kit for .45 ACP

They also had different barrel lengths from the standard 5" (which are legal in Hawaii) up to the massive 10" barrel.

I was thinking of bringing one in soon but will check with the police station in case anything changed.

I wonder if a Hi Point pistol would fit into the restricted category.  I believe their slides are constructed of zinc alloy.  saturday night special anyone?

never seen one at the range either :wacko:  Id buy one if a local shop stocked one for less than $150,   any gun that goes bang when the trigger's pulled is a good gun in my eyes :wave:

Assault pistols are out... AK47 Draco and AR 15 K23 pistols. Draco shoots the 7.62x39mm and the K23 shoots the 5.56 NATO round. Draco runs around $350 and the K23 around $850. An assault pistol: 1)An ammunition magazine which attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
2)A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward hand grip, or silencer;
3)A shroud which is attached to or partially or completely encircles the barrel and which permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the second hand without being burned;
4)A manufactured weight of fifty ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded;
5)A centerfire pistol with an overall length of twelve inches or more;
6)A semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm. An assault pistol does not include a firearm with a barrel sixteen or more inches in length, or an antique, curio or relic. :(

The weight limit only applies to so-called "Assault Pistols". It's one of the characteristics that is used to define if a particular firearm falls into the category.

Any pistol magazine over 10 rounds, too.. right?  I've had to trade off my standard 15 round glock mags for a couple of 10 rounders so i can bring it to Hi.  It's kind of a silly rule.  Why not let the full capacity of the magazine be filled?  why would 5 more rounds make a difference?

I can put a 33 round mag in it, too.  I still don't see what difference it would make.  A criminal will get the bigger mags for committing crimes.  Why restrict the law abiding citizens?

It's not that big of a deal to me.. just have to reload a little more often at the range.  It's just a silly, illogical restriction, imo.

There are a few pistols that don't have a reduced capacity magazines like many of the EAA pistols. Those are the ones that wouldn't even be sold here.

also, it is ridiculous that the ruger charger is an assault pistol, while the magnum research clone is not.

Which Magnum Research clone are you referring to? If it's their Magnum Lites then its because they are classified as rifles while the Ruger Charger is a pistol.

The upgraded barell drops it under the 50oz manufactured weight. So then it doesn't meet two of the requirements.

What would be nice is maybe if we did some research on adding bullet buttons to some of these "assault" pistols, thereby making them not have detachable magazines.
