No gun store there, just an armorer and accessories (flashlights, holsters, night sights, grips, etc).  They rent firearms there too.  Not sure if selling firearms is feasable since they have a higher sales tax and gun would still have to be shipped to an FFL in Hawaii and go through the normal registration process.  Would probably end up costing more than just buying a gun locally.

They have done specials in the past where buy a class/membership package and get a firearm, but it still gets shipped to your FFL.

They do sell firearms.

I've seen them selling their used rental guns.

You guys got me really researching this FOR REAL... dang!

Putting together the budget. Have not told the wife yet!!! Is gonna cost a pretty penny...

How is Wi-Fi access? And iPhone data reception?

I need to check email from time to time during the day while at Frontsight, and then I might have to do some work at night at the hotel.

iPhone data can be had with no problem.
Hotels have wifi.

If you go, you should see if you can meet others to split costs.

I went with another forum member.
He paid hotel, I paid vehicle and gas.
Airfare was paid with my Hawaiian miles.

Bring your wife too!  You better or will never hear the end of it 'till she gets to go.  And that is a good thing  :worship:

My wife wouldn't come.

Cousins, brothers or friends would come for sure.

My wife says, why you gotta go all the way there and not just shoot bullets here on Oahu.

Great thing about front sight is they have some non-shooting classes.  If your wife doesn't want to shoot, she can take a rope repel course, edged weapons, or other self defense classes.  There are even classes for kids too.

We just don't have those facilities or classes here.  :(   5 rounds in a rifle mag and slow fire does nothing to train you for self defense.

I have attended a 2 day Front Sight class. There are many Gun and ammo shops in Pahrump. I deal with WR SPORTING GOODS  across from Walmart. You cannot buy a firearm in Nevada without a valid drivers license and 6 months residency . I am a seasonal resident of Pahrump and have tried for past 4 years. If you have any questions about FRONTSIGHT  or PAHRUMP you
can contact me at waianaeray@yahoo.com.

Thanks, I came back from FS not too long ago; 4DDH and 4DPR.

I didn't drive around Pahrump much; just to do laundry. Haha.

zippz, just curious to see whether they taught/recommended any other ways of holding the flashlight, besides the "Harris" hold, and the pros and cons, if any.

Also, did they comment on rail-mounted lights v. hand held lights?

Polenar Tactical put out this vid that helps to visually demonstrate a few other ways of holding a flashlight:

The class was taught on harries throughout the training for its overall combination of versatility, control, and simpleness.  A few brought weapon mounted lights and some used the rogers type flashlights to practice in addition to the harries.  Advantages are:
1.  can be used with almost any type/size flashlight from small tailcap surefires to multi-D cell maglights.
2.  helps control the handgun and helps with fatigue
3.  easier to aim the handgun using both hands
4.  easier to aim the flashlight, it points where the handgun is pointed
5.  better control of the flashlight to prevent turning on the light accidentally

Disadvantages I see:
1.  Your painting a target on your chest, so shine the light and move quickly.
2.  Better to use in the weaver stance, not as ergonomic in the isosceles but still very usable.

I think it's the best general purpose one to use for most people.  If you get too complicated or don't practice complex methods then you run the risk of dropping something, accidentally turning on your flashlight at the least opportune time, or not getting your flashlight/handgun on target.   The hardest thing about using a flashlight is to shine it where you are aiming.  Takes a bit of practice to calibrate yourself.
