Was this from 50 yds, Tom?  i may have missed it, but didn't see the distance in the earlier entry.

Nope, 100.  If that's the best I could do at 50, I would have hidden myself away in shame.

Eyes were tired from shooting sillhouette with irons for 2 hours. I think I can do better.

Bump

Shot yesterday off the bench.  Didn't measure these as this was just load development. 100yrds. Lapua 155 Scenar using Varget, OAL 2.84".

(6) (5) round groups yesterday prone with bipod and rear bag 100yrds.  175 SMK, Varget 44.8, 3rd shot Lapua Brass trimmed to 2.007", FGMM #210 primer, OAL 2.82", Velocity 2716 shot with a 24" Accuracy International .308 w/ Vortex Razor HD 5-20x.  The number by the 1.189" group is if I didn't have that awesome flyer...

Group sizes farthest edge to edge        = .848   .930   .944   1.189   .928   .71          Avg = .924"
Group sizes when you subtract .308     = .54     .622   .636   .881     .620   .402        Avg = .616"

I'll do another one when I finish my load developments and actually follow the rules... (didn't take a picture of my setup or pic w/ measured groups w/ calipers, but I did have a forum member sitting next to me that I see every sunday that I go... but I forget his tag name)

Good to know, but it's a different guy (there was a bunch of guys/girls to my left though).  The guy I'm talking about I see on Sundays and he is there early like me (0600).  He's Fabteks friend.

Another load development group shoots.  Shot prone as my confirmation of my load after I shot off the bench.  Funny thing is that the prone groups were better than the benched.  5 shots of 5

Load .308 Win
Virgin Lapua brass
Varget powder
Berger 185 Jugg target
Win Large Rifle Primer (thanks to Dumass  :shaka:)

Edge to edge = .984,  .901,  1.303,  .843,  .806     Avg:   .967
-.308              = .676,  .593,  .995,    .535,  .498     Avg:   .659

Hope to shoot with you sometime, I would love to pick your brain on various topics.  I would not have gotten to were I am without your help and the advice of others on this site.

Shot this past Sunday 100yrds

Shot prone w/ bipod and sand bag five (5) round groups

185 Berger Jugg Target
2nd shot Lapua brass FL sized, trimmed to 2.007
Varget       41.6gr
Winchester large rifle primer
COAL        2.85"

Group sizes:                 .345, .718, .512, .404, .761
Average group size    .548"

This was actually my second attempt as my first try I had really nice 4 round groups, then the dreaded fliers keep popping up...

Just reworked this load and found a nice node at 42.9gr of Varget.  Hope to stretch that one out soon.

Thank you.

Not sure. Had a few tries at these "postal matches" way back, not too many participated.

Maybe now that we've (2ahawaii)  grown more, maybe we can start something up again.  I used to have the time to get to the range every weekend, but now I'm lucky if once every few months lately.   :(
If we can get a good turnout I could make a real effort to get out! :)

Heavies- I hear you about the range time I've been very busy as well and when I went there not too long ago I hadn't been there in a long time.  I didn't know it was only a 100 yard range now and all the steel had been removed  :'( :'( :'(

What a bummer that was!!!

Ren- That's cool that they do a cookout I've never been to the silhouette side.  What is allowed/not allowed there?  Are the range rules much different from the rifle side?
