The whole Saiga conversion trend started as a result of Clinton's assault weapons ban. Can't buy an AK? Buy a Saiga and make it look like an AK!
Now, of course, AKs are back on the market.
Personally, I have very little interest in AKs, but I do like the Saiga. Pretty much everything I like about it is what gets lost in the conversion. I've thought many times about buying one, a carbine length in 7.62 x 39, but since I have an SKS already, the poor Saiga is on the "C" list.
Unless I stumble across a great deal on one, maybe one that's been converted, and I can restore it!
