The Springfield Armory 1911 MIL-SPEC is a pretty good price... from $575-$650.. Iv'e been looking at those too.. :thumbsup: Gotta buyem at a good price so you can get 2 for the BLACK OPS pose.. ;D

man what the hell kind of poice dept is that? One guy got an ak with more pistol mags than he probably knows what to do with, one guy got a mini14, one guy got an ar15, one guy got duelie pistols and one guy who has what looks like an ak as well, except he's staring at the black guys ass.
Not to mention the "tactical gear" they're wearing. Some got tactical vests, one guy wearing full camo with a flaming gay backpack on, and two guys wearing t-shirts like they just got a couple blokes off the street, gave them some guns and told them "HEY, watch my back...i'm going in".

i really wanted one of those things too except i saw the NUTNFANCY video on youtube. Looks like loading that thing is a pain in the ass and the selector switch that swaps tubes seems like a weak and high/easy wear point. I also HATE the safety button. The "push through" safety reminds me of a freaken crossman pellet gun i once had.

Yeah man that reloading part for the ksg is just insane. Stick the muzzle in dirt, remove all points of contact from your firing stance, use your firing hand to load, etc, lol.

Planning on doing a ground up AR build. I have a slab sided SP series Colt AR, but that rifle is strictly safe queen. So I've been doing a bunch of research on what parts I'd like to build with.
Only two things I'm still in the air about.
1. Free float or monolithic upper receiver. Am trying to decide on either Mega Machine rifle length monolithic upper, or Mega Billet Upper w/ KAC URX rifle length.
2. Barrel: Noveske 16" or the Rainier Ultramatch 16". Both are SS, Noveskes are 5.56 off a Pac Nor blank, Rainier is a .223 Wylde off a Shilen blank turned by White Oak Armament.
Throw up some suggestions if anyone has experience/input.

my lmt monolithic. Personally i don't see what the big deal is with these monolithic rails. Sure you can mount an optic on that spot where the rail meets the receiver, however i own 2 ar's and don't have a problem avoiding that ONE notch that the monolithic rail offers.
The downside of the mono is that if you drop your rifle and you dent your rails, you're fucked. At least with a regular FF rail, you can replace as needed without having to replace the entire upper. Even merely sliding a polymer tango down vert grip has already scratched the finish on my lmt. I dunno. I would choose standard ff rail over mono.

Haven't really looked at using the parts you are. I did a varmint rifle and ended up using a Daniel Defense upper with a VTAC free float handguard.
For the barrel I went with a Shilen, but to me it seems a bit finicky if you don't pay strict attention to case prep if you reload your ammo. I am also having some loading issues even with commercial ammo (PMC) which I think are either related to my mag catch not being tight enough or the chamber of the barrel being so tight that it's facing loading issues...........dunno, I've really only shot the upper 3 times in about 8 months.
I would recommend looking at your overall budget because I just piece mealed the upper together and before I knew it the thing was pretty expensive (a lot having to do with the barrel).

Ichi- Main reason I've been looking at a Monolithic build, is to reduce receiver flex. Now it's debateable if this is truly an issue with an AR (as we know there are litterally hundreds of AR manufacturers out there that work just fine with FF handguards). On the other hand, flex is inherent in having two pieces held together by a mechanical device vs. a once piece milled receiver. Is it a deal breaker? No not at all. But it is something worth looking at while I'm still in the decision process...

I actually bought it today; Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308 flavor. Comes setup like a PSS LTR but with a crappy hogue stock, the trigger is a Remington adjustable that comes in preset around 3#. Getting ready to push the button on a set of Seekins rings and 20moa base. If I can find a Bell & Carlson or HS Precision stock cheap Ill swap it out, otherwise gonna pinch pennies for a AICS chassis. Still undecided on optic, most likely gonna be a Leupold MK4 3.5-10 FFP or a USO SN-3 1.8-10. Probably a Ops Inc 3rd model depending on cost of barrel reprofiling.

Picked up the H&R Pardner Protector pump shotgun from SA. $164 (tax included). I picked up the last non-display on the island.
My wife wants a Beretta model 86 so that's probably the next gun purchase.

Next purchase is a Beretta 92FS/A1.
I'm really indifferent about having a rail ala the A1, but I hear the Beretta 92 has some issue with some recoil block or something like that. I keep forgetting about googling that until I get to work, which of course is blocked. Apparently the A1 has an added recoil buffer. I'd probably end up getting that one.
Currently have no plans on getting a light or laser or microwave attached to my handgun, but I guess having the option to do so is better than not having any options.

Seeing as I'm still a target range shooter, I'm going to stick with the cheaper calibers. I have a .22 pistol and rifle, and a 9 mm pistol, so my next purchase will probably be a 9 mm rifle.
But some day, that 1911 .45 ACP will be mine. Oh yes, she will be mine. /Wayne's World

Probably going to try to pick up a Remington 870 Police model at some point.
Already have a home defense pistol, a plinking pistol and a plinking rifle just need a shotgun to round out the collection and I'm a sucker for a pump-action.

Dregs, go to the Beretta Forum and do a search.
The 90 series Berettas are probably the MOST Reliable handguns on the market.
My next BerettaS are going to be Vertecs and Elite series
Because of the major Humbug in diassembly, my Beretta 86 gets just very basic cleaning.
Barrel, breech face and lube on the rails. Q tips with solvent and oil for the rest.
Mine is used in Every LIFE class's shooting portion that I help teach at.
Several of My personal Berettas are former Police guns. All shoot very well.
Just make sure the rails are lubed well and good, clean ammo is used.

You will not be disappointed. I just recently brought some of my guns to the island from back home, and elected to leave my 10/22 behind. Kicking myself now, and I guess my Christmas present will be for whoever visits us this year to bring it with them. The range of awesome stuff you can get for your 10/22 is just ludicrous. You can dress it up to look just like an M4, or you can get match-grade bull barrels, or anything in between. I really really do love my 10/22!

I love my 10/22 too. Bone stock with cheap parts, only an inexpensive scope on top. Perfect for killing zombie squirrels :)

Right now the safe I've got is only big enough for handguns, so if I can get her convinced to let me set up a big safe, I'll be pursuing an evil black gun of the AR variety. If she doesn't think a gun safe will match her decor, I'll be buying an XDM 45.

It's not so much the money, as it is convincing her that a big ol' safe in the closet or the bedroom is a good idea. But yeah, I've looked those ones over, and they'd keep the wee one out of the guns, which is the main reason for locking up my guns. If they get stolen, that's what insurance is for!

My wife and I don't have children yet, which makes having guns in the house a lot easier, but when we do, I'll have to invest in a safe, gun locks, etc.

It could have been that or Chiappa's Rhino (http://www.chiappafirearms.com/product/728). They look pretty similar and both fire from the bottom cylinder. I think the Mateba's are pretty rare.

Just got back from my shortest HPD trip ever. I felt fine with my bag after seeing the guy after me had his rifle wrapped up in a beach towel.

I've shot the X-five (top of the line) 9mm.
It shot perfectly. Super accurate and incredibly low recoil.
I would like to try the tactical one because it's a classic DA/SA as opposed to the SAO one I shot.

Ok just bought a S&W M&P chambered in 9mm and should take possesion of it first week in February, but while the wifey and I were shopping the Sig 1911-22 caught our eye. Its made by GSG and according to them 80% of parts from a true 1911 are able to be used on it. Next side job I bang out the money will more than likely go to purchasing one of these. My 6.5 Grendel AR project is being derailed by other purchases, I need to get another job.

I have the SIG 1911 22. Fun little gun. I had a problem with the guide rod, but SIG replaced it very quickly and it's been running good since. I think the guide rod spring that comes with it has a narrower front/back end than back/front end, and I'd put it in backwards, causing wear on the rod, which eventually snapped off and shot out. (It was rather comical, as was the expression on my face.) The new guide rod springs are equal on both sides.

This rifle is a beast.

I say get one!
I like shooting my PTR more than the M1a and FAL. I think I like it so much because the operation is so different than the usual right side charge. It's just fun to slap the paddle ;D Oh, and mags are WAY cheaper.
I like the Garand for the simple reason that the clip launches out of the action and none of my other toys do that. Different guns make shooting more fun for me :thumbsup:

PTR supposedly now offers free repair / warranty last I heard. This was because of several issues regarding the shallow fluting within their barrel and improperly heat treated trunnions. Friend of mine got the PTR-32 (the AK version) and the trunnion began to crack after several hundred rounds. PTR fixed it free of charge but something to consider.

Why? It is election year and you never know......... As long as you have a AR lower, you will always be able to build a AR. An AK with all the evil features (bayo lug, removable brake, hi cap magwell) has a limited legal life span IMHO.

Next on the list is a 12 gauge, though it will probably be the roommate that buys one instead of me.
I'm partial to the Mossberg 590 for defense with a 500 barrel and magazine set for hunting and variable chokes. I owned a 500 ages ago and have always regretted letting the ex-wife have it.
The roommate is thinking a Saiga 12. She's looking decent magazine capacity and for semi-auto - which to her is "simple."
I'm the guy who has to keep the things working smoothly ... so the pump action is "simple" to me.
I've never worked on an AK style weapon, though, so the Saiga is an interesting adventure that I'm looking forward to.

Things have changed after this past weekend's Shooting Sports Fair. I got to try shooting skeet for the first time and now I want a shotgun dedicated for shooting skeet and trap. I also want an AK too now. I actually want many other guns, but those two are leaders on the "priority" list. At least for now.
I'm thinking either a Remington 1100 or Benelli semi-auto for the shotgun and an Arsenal AK. Will see how the funds situation works out.

1. Skeet was pretty fun. This weekend was the first time for me too. I'd probably get into it sooner than later.
2. I went in wanting to like the AK 7.62x39 but I was surprised how much it jumped more than the AR .223. So I might now pick up an AR before an AK.
3. I told myself that I would stick to polymer pistols and avoid the 1911. But after firing a Kimber and making 1 hole with it at 5 (or was that 7?) yards, I am now considering it over more modern guns like Glocks, Berettas, etc.

The skeet station was right next to the station that I was working at. It was awesome to see the interest in the skeet station by a range of participants. You would see a couple come along and the girl would go first and get something like 3 out of 3 and put pressure on the guy. ;)
Did you try any of the ARs back to back from the AK? One of the ARs was a standard DI and the other was a piston gun (the one with the Zombie EoTech). I am not sure if they had an Arsenal AK to try, but with the brake, that gun doesn't kick that much more than an AR, at least to me. Some of the AK's don't have a pad on the stock as well, which does make for feeling the kick a little bit more.
I don't recall how far the targets on the pistol side were, but I thought there were more like 7 yards. The pistol targets were getting torn up REALLY fast.

Don't get me wrong, I like my ARs. All four of them. Haha. I don't have an AK and have been wanting to get one for a while, but have been buying other things.
I am not sure which AKs were available to shoot, but I know that there were a lot of them. A bunch of us stayed after to clean the guns and there quite a few AKs, from folding stock ones to the more basic wood stock ones.
I was trying to get my friends to come out and try pistols. They took the class about a month ago and a few are debating which fun to buy. They missed a great opportunity to try all sorts of different guns.

SMGs are not legal. From what I understand through my research, it just looks like a SMG but the features that would make it a SMG or assault pistol have been removed/modified permanently so it functions like a pistol and is therefore legal. Kinda like how some people have a MP5 rifle. I think the Uzis are also pistols from an operational standpoint.

I initially shared the same thoughts on AKs... while I dug the the simplicity and reliability of the AK platform, I didn't care for the recoil of the AK 47 (7.62x39).
So, I ended up with an AK 74 in 5.45x39.
5.45x39 is a flatter shooting round, and when coupled with the muzzle brake of the AK 74, there is substantially less felt-recoil compared to the 7.62x39 round put through an AK 47 with standard 45-degree slant muzzle.

5.45x39 ammo isn't as plentiful as 7.62x39, yet, but there are several LGS that are starting to stock 5.45x39.

If u like the AK but not x39 I would suggest trying out a 223 AK like the arsenal 106's. I have a 106 and a few other 223 AK's and love them. Mine are more accurate than my x39's too. Plus, steel case 223 is relatively cheap.
I don't go to the range often, but u are welcomed to try it out if we can coordinate a range day.

Mags are easy to come by online as 106's are in production. 5.56 circle 10's aren't cheap, but they are available.

A CMP Garand sounds kinda nice. Maybe one of the 308 rebarreled ones if I can scratch together the cash - the price difference is about the same as getting tooled and brassed up to reload 30-06. I kinda like that I don't have to make an FFL dealer donation to buy from the CMP and I've always liked to design of the Garand. Potentially way more accurate than the CETME, which is why I'm leaning towards the new barrel rather than an older, unknown condition one.
If the CMP doesn't sell out of them before I happen to pool up enough cash I'll probably buy one.

Thanks I've seen you post that before so it was encouraging, I think pit808 also recommended it, and after doing some research it seemed like they are top sellers and sell out quick so when I seen one listed I hit the purchase button. Funny thing is, after I finished my order I went back and looked and they were sold out. Glad I did it when I did.

I've only shot my m38 at 50yds and at the bigger steel (left side of steel targets) at 240ish? yds. At 50 I can shoot it as accurately as my iron sight fal,ptr91 and my barrel isn't the nicest mosin barrel out there. I hit the those steel targets with no prob holding center mass. If your POA/POI doesn't jive, try shooting with the bayo extended before you start moving your front sight around.
One other thing. I use a small size slip on recoil pad to make it more comfy to shoot. I wish I could shoot it all day when it's on. I don't want to if it isn't.
Regardless of where it hits, that first shot is guaranteed to put a smile on your face that no .22lr can. BOOOOOM!!!! :D

The 91/30 might be a little more accurate I'm thinking because of the barrel length.. The M38 is pretty awesome.. I've never shot an M38
but it must be a tad lighter due to it not having a bayonet...must kick ... THE MOSIN FIREBALL! :thumbsup:

A friend of mine owns one with a 6" barrel. I personally think its a pricey gimmick gun but it does work as advertised at reducing recoil. However it requires a grip that it very different from any other gun on the market so I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for consistency between handguns.

I've been wanting a 300AAC upper for so long. good thing is you can trim 556 brass to make 300aac rounds. regular AR lowers and mags will work with it

I've had my 1911-22 since the Spring Gun Show. No chipping finish. No FTE/FTF as long as I use CCI MiniMags. No cracked slide. And the guide rod I replaced along with the bushing and front sight.
The hundred bucks you save can go for upgrades if the stock accuracy isn't good enough for you!

Still regret selling mine on the mainland before moving here years ago. Figured I would have no use for it.
Nice Leupold scope on it, trigger job and tweaked springs. The stock grips were plenty soft shooting for me, the thing was such a beast. Had a nice crossdraw shoulder holster for it, but never did get to go hunting with it.
Best I shot it was about 2" groups at 80 yards.
If it had been the 7.5" barrel, might have kept it. The 9" was just overkill.

Not really much to say. Just didn't have the money sometimes. Sometimes i would have to wait months to find the parts i wanted. I will post pics when done. This particular build is completely impractical and cost way more than an AR should. However I think it's going to be pretty unique :thumbsup: Just wanted to build something different from the next guy.

After buying numerous compacts and subcompacts but then actually running her gen 1 Millenium Pro at the range without a hitch I have given up and just bought the new G2 version. Say what you will but this line might be the best semi-a Taurus has yet and I see why she got one to begin with. Easy to handle, she can rack it no problem and finally they're selling 10 round mags direct too. Yes dear you are right this is the right gun for you, here is the newest one :) On sale for $199 you just cannot beat that for a DA 9mm compact.

Yes, purpish + purpish G10 gripsahs not the rainbow finish that one was just too fruity for even me. However there are some with predominately green that look freaking sweet to me at least being Aiea78 and all :) BUT those seem to be the most popular and they're tacking on $100+ premiums. Pass. 'hound - I'll walk the gen 1 over later and let da kine check it out. I bet she likes it and can run it good too it's perfect for wife gun. The G2 is improvement all around and I don't know how but even cheaper (inflation adjusted). There are mods for the owner garage gunsmith too. One in particular will blow your mind. I don't believe I'm saying it but the Taurus is a buy. Like a cheap eats recommendation haha. There's even a desert tan version but good luck finding one of those.

and a Star Wars aminal at that. got to be because of the hardcore hunt and I bet them ones are hard to nail down up in the cold snowy mountains or something like hunting bears.
The Saiga rifles are a sporter version of the original AK-47 rifle, and are marketed for hunting and civilian use. While the furniture on the Saiga differs from an AK, these are still considered to be true Kalashnikov rifles. They are made in the same Russian Izhmash factory where Mikhail Kalashnikov works. These rifles are not assembled with mixed-matched parts like many other AK rifles. These are completely new builds using all new parts, so the fit and function should prove better. The vast mojority of Kalashnikov rifles produced today are illegal copies and produced without license.

Yea I know, I'm not new here and I hardly post but I'm in a big debate on my next gun purchase which is between an FNH Scar 16s in FDE, a IWI Tavor in black or a full custom lightweight build with all Battle Arms Development parts(upper, lower, light rigid barrel, sabertube etc.) None of which I shot but held both the Scar and Tavor in store and like the feel of the Scar. The Scar would mainly be for myself if I get it, the Tavor would be for both my wife and I or mostly for my wife because I figure the weight distribution would be easier for my wife to handle and considering a lightweight build for my wife to shoot who is 5ft tall and weighs 100lbs. She already has trouble holding up my LWRC SPR for a full 30 rounds(shot in private land) So yea I need some opinions please or if some fellow 2a'ers will allow us to try their Scar, Tavor or lightweight builds.

National Match M9 Berretta 92SF Pistol
The MCP M9 starts with a M9 pistol and we basically throw away the majority of the standard parts.
First, the pistol's frame and slide are mated using our patented / propiritory method and rail system. The concept of installing rails is nothing new, but to do it properly you must have the right materials for the rails, and a very experienced gun smith. MCP has worked with some of the leading metal suppliers to obtain an alloy that we feel works the best in the M9 application. This is no small task and the procedure is different for each M9 we recieve, as no two M9 pistols are exactly the same. This also means that it takes us a significant amount of time to work on each customer's pistol.
Second, we replace the barrel bushing with a tungsten bushing to add weight to the nose of the pistol and provide superior longevity. Unlike the bushing of a 1911 style pistol, the M9 MCP proprietary bushing does not need to be replaced after every 5000 rounds.
Third, if it's plastic, aside from the grips, it's gone. Wherever possible we replace the factory parts with tungsten components.
Fourth, obviously, we install a match trigger and a KKM match barrel. All MCP barrels are tested in a purpose built barrel tester to ensure that they group under 1.5 inch at 50 yards. If they don't group, we sent them back (which is extremely rare). Basically, we feel that if you don't test the barrel, you're not doing your customers any favors. When you think about it if the barrel doesn't group in under 1.5 inch at 50 yards, how can you be expected to consistantly hit the X ring?

I will purchase a classic pistol - a Browning Hi-Power.
Of course in 9mm. I wanted an all steel pistol to compliment my Colt 1911 series 70 in 45 ACP. Looking at an older Hi-Power; a series T or C made in the 60s and 70s. Besides the classic lines and nice polished blue the classic Browning just feels right in the hand. Also, it's a single action auto pistol. :D

Trying to get Mega Arms stripped lower ambi billet and a forged stripped lower. Also still looking for a JM stamped 336 or a late 70's-80's Win 94. Probably couldn't afford the rising prices of a pre-64 in good condition.
After that, that's it.

liked it so much, that when I saw this, I had to have it.
Talo edition Vaquero in 44magnum, Altamont birdshead grip, and even shorter 3" barrel.

With possible bad gun laws MAYBE coming, I can see lots of guys getting the semis now, but another thought would be to get bolt, lever, pump guns/shotguns before the crisis starts and these prices go through the roof and inventory is low. Just my thought.

Reading other forums, ARs are selling fast in other states. This could be a snooze you lose moment or we might ride out another storm. IDK, but need to think it through and act fast if the LGS start selling arms quick and the line at HPD starts getting long like after Sandy Hook.
Not sure if the Savage TRR will sell out quick like AR/AK but if it's available now... so no regrets later. We all gotta make decisions with this sh!t storm brewing. Good luck.

A bolt action 22 was on my list as well, but decided to pick up the Colt first. Hopefully, I will be able to add a Savage Mark II with a decent scope on it soon.

I was talking to a coworker and he has a M1A, which I believe hasn't been shot or not shot much. With the mags that he has, looking at well over $2k, probably closer to $3k. I've always wanted a M1A, but not sure I can afford to feed it.
