I volunteer my services to help you test fire it.

For some reason I have to keep telling myself I don't need a PTR-91.

I can barely keep my pistol and carbine fed without introducing necked down cases (and the reloading hassles they bring), purchased jacketed bullets and an array of rifle powders to my stock.

Rifles aren't cheap to buy or to feed... but... but...

No, I don't need a .308 battle rifle. I really don't. The 44 carbine kills the paper just fine and the range is about 70 yards max here anyway.

But...  ;D

I struggled with getting a .308 "battle rifle" and decided on a Springfield Socom 16.
This rifle is a beast.
One romp with the Socom and you'll never want to be with a PTR again.  :geekdanc:

I say get one!

I like shooting my PTR more than the M1a and FAL.  I think I like it so much because the operation is so different than the usual right side charge.  It's just fun to slap the paddle  ;D  Oh, and mags are WAY cheaper.

I like the Garand for the simple reason that the clip launches out of the action and none of my other toys do that.  Different guns make shooting more fun for me

PTR supposedly now offers free repair / warranty last I heard. This was because of several issues regarding the shallow fluting within their barrel and improperly heat treated trunnions. Friend of mine got the PTR-32 (the AK version) and the trunnion began to crack after several hundred rounds. PTR fixed it free of charge but something to consider.

I think I'm gonna buy either a Volquartsen or tactical solutions 10/22 receiver and build something.

Either a new Encore 260 Rem barrel with a Holland QD brake from MGM or redo my XP to 260 Rem.  Both for shooting the long range.  Slim

I'm completely torn on what to get next. It's either a gas piston AR or a FN 57. I keep going back and forth and can't decide  :shake:

easy choice.....AK

Why? It is election year and you never know.........     As long as you have a AR lower, you will always be able to build a AR.  An AK with all the evil features (bayo lug, removable brake, hi cap magwell) has a limited legal life span IMHO.

+1

This is the truth.

In the very near future, surplus AK's will sell for more than top of the line AR's...

Wait & see.

I'd like a true pre-64 Mod 70 prolly around vintage 53 or so.  Nice solid bolt handle, wood and good steel.  Probably in 30-06 or 308.
