All emails received promptly at 8am will respectively be counted as I was still doing eyelid inspections. But standard equipment as always. Same rules apply. Ask questions here if need be and moderator macsak will answer your question promptly.

i attended the open shoot once and if i remember right. they allow holstered gun as long as chambered empty, magazine out within the HDF area and they only allow to load on the Hot line by the folding table.

Thanks.

Can do rifle on the pistol open shoot? And do you just get in line at a firing point. Once you get to the front, do your thing?

Thanks again.

Just picked up a new rifle and I want to run it a bit hard. Kind of difficult to do that with the regular kokohead rules.

Would love to run through the class as well but if I was at the range from 0800-1600 my wife would kick my ass. It's embarrassing to get beat up by a girl. Or so I hear... :(

open shoot is form 8-10
you can shoot rifle, pistol, shotgun
anything that is hawaii legal
you can load up to 10 rounds in the mag, and can rapid fire as long as it is CONTROLLED fire
no "spray and pray"
we will have some target bases that you can put your KHSC rifle stands in and also have a target array setup
general distances are 5-20 yards
people also bring gallon bottles to put on the berm to shoot at too

ask if you have any more questions

Time limit?

Awesome Mac. That answered most of em.

Time limit?

are you asking where on the range we are?
it is action bay 1
on the left hand side as you enter the range
(on the hanauma bay side)
look for the white container and all the cars

show up, help set up, sign in, pay
safety brief and the line goes hot
must uncase at tables or against the berm
RSO and admins will give you better instructions that day
open shoot lasts for 2 hours, you can approach the line as long as there is a reasonable amount of space
you need to shoot straight ahead into the backstop, do not shoot across the bay at a large angle
(basically only shoot at targets in front of you)
please stay until the end and help clean up if you can

everyone is pretty chill, most of the people are here on 2aHI, just introduce yourself around and tell them your screen name

just remembered something
if you have not attended an HDF pistol class previously, you are NOT allowed to shoot from a holster during the open shoot
you MUST receive instruction in how HDF wants you to draw and fire and you MUST be approved to shoot from the holster
see dirtylickins or our head trainer to get assigned an instructor

BTW!  If you're there next to me at the free shoot and feel the cool breeze from this while I'm blasting, please don't get mad at meh.  Let me know if I'm causing too much of a ruckus.

HDF classes are not "defensive training" nor ccw classes

if this state ever gets CCW, there will be guidelines and requirements in place, and hopefully that type of training will be provided by many groups

doofus?

HDF range day classes teach fundamentals and skills that are a little beyond what can be done on the "static" side of the range
they are not a replacement for more costly, extensive training that can be done on private ranges or on the mainland
basically a taste of what you can do outside of sitting/standing at a bench and shooting 5 rounds slowfire at 25, 50, or 100 yards

Nice answers to all but the "D" in the HDF Stands for defense as in your 2nd amendment or your civil defense of your rights to bear arms. Not to be confused with the little part that we do at the range but  the big picture of our shooting community as a whole.
