We're in trouble. We can't even "contain" our work furlough program!

I know! We can house them on Kahoolawe! In case something goes wrong we have CAS to take care of it! Oh, never mind, they might dig up some UXO and strap to themselves...but they'll only blow up themselves on that island! OK!

I could see "Crusader" tee shirts becoming a hot selling item for some enterprising vendor.
Hope the muzz do not mind being followed.........................of course, only machetes and other gardener implements are legal for those following.

Man he's a dumbass. see nothing good coming out of this, more homeless, more taxpayers money going to funding these people. :wtf:

I will greet them not with a shaka. but with the finger.lol :D

You all, know the King Lion Heart and the Crusaders lost every holy war(s) in the holy land. The only ones doing a GOOD job in the region is Israel. No BS retaliation.
I for one would welcome all legal immigrants or refugees , and an armed civilian / military population like Israel.
-

And we should bring our gun collections with us for show and tell.

I just e-mailed Ige to tell him how his thinking is pupule. I bet he along with other democrat governors were contacted by DC to state their support for their leader's decisions after news stated that half the governors object to letting them in. He's not the type to make the news.
Just shows he was never an independent type of democrat but just as fanaticlly loyal as Aberhobbit.
Hope others here e-mail him to show our stand.

I 2nd that

Keep in mind that not ALL Syrian refugees are aligned with a VEO like IS but it is a large vector to filter and control. In addition, it is safe to say that Hawaii lacks the necessary, TANGIBLE (not Aloha) resources to help them and OUR own citizens. I'm guessing that the Gov is trying to get some Federal money.

You do know that prior to the creation of the Kingdom of Jerusalem, the Christians defeated the muslims, right?
-
Yeah , but the Muslims got smart and took it back.. Subsequently , taxes and donations were raise in the old kingdom for the "cause".
The Pope and the Kings gained more power at the blood and sweat of the peasants populations.

Seems Ige is doing a nice side step ignoring a rather large homeless, indigent issue we have here now.
And now this democrat idiot want to import thousands more that do not even live here or have a clue about living here?
Come on, providing for those here now is enough of a divisive issue, why does this idiot democrat want to double down on the problem by inviting in possible terrorists?
Oh, dumb question: instant democrat voters............
Same old shit as the illegal aliens in the mainland. Compassion has nothing to do with it , permanent democrat voting majority is where it is at.

My bad I was so disgusted with this article I didn't even think it would already be in here. Lol that said looks like Sand Island is the perfect refugee housing complex.
-
Isn't this all irrelevant? Once someone comes to the US they have the freedom to travel within the country all they like. No state has the ability to welcome or reject refugees once they enter the country.

States have the right to not provide city, county or state-funded services to non-residents. Employers are not required to hire non-residents.
Most states have a law that requires a year to establish residency. That's a long time to live without a job or welfare checks.
-
Of course it is relevant. The state that receives them will need to cough up tax dollars to settle them. If they want to come and live here in Hawaii on their own, let them try.
How many mainland "refugees" do we have coming into Hawaii who find out they can't hack it here and end up going back?
Heck, even some locals have a hard time making it here and end up leaving Hawaii for less expensive states.

I don't think this will garner Democratic votes.
I think everyone, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, is going to be like :wtf:
Has he looked out the window at our homeless problem ?
We don't have enough housing as it is.
And EEF does have a point. Once they're in, they're in.
They can travel freely between States with Federal welfare and assistance.
And I'm pretty sure Hawaii is not denying State or County benefits to Mainland transplants.
it was stupid for Ige to jump into this situation.
-
This was on luv guv's Face book page
"call the U.S. Capitol and let them know that you OPPOSE REFUGEES THAT POSE A THREAT in the United States. 1-202-224-3121 The automated operator will ask you what State, and transfer you to your Senator and your State Representative. It takes about 2 minutes. Share too. I called and I was able to leave a message!"
Didn't quite work that way but it does get you connected.
-
I have a dumb question. I was under the understanding that the states are the ones that administer the federal and state welfare programs. I know it used to be that way. Is it not that way any more?
-
I think you're right.
But the Feds control the purse.
Yes Governer's /States are relevant.
Here's a pretty good article breaking it down.

We have taken in the largest chunk of micronesians and the federal government continuously fails to reimburse the state for its associated costs (last I read) so on that note I would hesitate to believe that the feds will offer any additional support for any Syrians we take.
-
I think the US should take in some refuges as I think this would go a long way towards creating peace in the middle east. They can learn our culture, work ethic, working with other religions, etc and hopefully take it back to Syria when things settle down there or have other Syrians wonder why they can't have this lifestyle and rights. I think this is needed in the long term.
I know there are many cons to this as Syrians are unskilled, will most likely stay homeless/jobless unless well guided & funded to get educated, and of course the security thing. Hawaii would be the worst place to bring them due to the high cost of housing and living and they'd be competing with other local homeless for services.

The US has been at peace with Japan since Sep 2, 1945; not one refugee needed.
Maybe it's time the US makes peace with the Middle East, the same way we did Japan.

Certainly factors to consider. Though it is often noted that people who are immigrating to this country are willing to work very hard even when coming from very poor backgrounds. I don't know whether the Syrians will follow suit but I don't think we can assume they will be homeless bums right off the bat.

Yes, after we treat the cancer there with radiation. :geekdanc:

Syrians have one of the worst IQ ratings in the world; barely floating around 80, which is about what someone with a learning disability has.
Syrians are some of the most illiterate people in the world, with 4 out of 5 women being completely illiterate, and nearly all of them not being able to speak English.
So tell me how they are going to fit in and contribute to a society where the local and indigenous population are already struggling as it is, along with thousands of homeless already on the streets with more added to their ranks everyday?
Out of all the people coming here, the Micronesians deserve to be here more than the Syrians. Why? Because our testing made many of their islands inhabitable, we poisoned hundreds if not thousands of Micronesians through radioactive drift, and at least we get 2,000,000 sqmi of the Pacific Ocean through the Compact of Free Associations treaty.
What does bringing in these Syrians offer us? Nothing but another potential terrorist attack and more burden on our system from people who shouldn't be coming here.
-
And not once have I heard anything about the security of Hawaii's military presence.
Every branch of the military has a base on Oahu.
22 bases with almost 95,000 enlisted, MCB alone has about 10,000
Take a tour of Pearl harbor or check out Barking Sands Missile Range
Want communication see Wahiawa.and be sure to check out the C-17 and Raptors @ Hickam
Or just try the whole PCOM enchilada
Nice targets. :shake:

The U.S. is actively at war with Syria and taking in their "refugees" (military personnel) and housing them on U.S. soil?
This is the single stupidest thing I've ever heard of in all of my life.

I cannot predict how Syrians will fare, I just know that the USA have gotten refugees and poor immigrants before who have turned out to be quite productive.
If we are going to say no to Syrians, then we should at least have an alternative solution right? Maybe I missed it but I haven't seen anyone against Syrians coming put out any viable alternative plan. What do we do with them? (not just the USA but Europe etc.)

Alternative solution: Let other Arab states take them.
Oh wait, they don't want them.
Is that not telling you something when Arabs don't want Arabs from an Arab country?
2nd Alternative solution: Stop bombing Syria, let Assad and Putin do what they gotta do, and let the people of Syria fight for their own damn freedom and independence.

Do you get a reasonable alternative solution when your ccw application is denied? :D

I wonder if it would be feasible to do a lie detector test to all refugee applicants?

I have a test put a AK either assembled or disassembled out and see what they do with it, or you could have a simulated IED in the room and see how they react.

Monitor their blood pressure while showing them a collection of Charlie Hebdo cartoons of Muhammad.

Lie detectors are bullshit.
It is a tool used to coerce an individual into a confession, nothing more.
The only way to get solid intel is to have boots on the ground and eyes in the sky that are able to put them into the databases and biometric systems, which we can't do.
So either we leave them alone and let them fight their own damn war, declare war and wage total war, or make peace with them Japanese style.
Anything else is a waste of time.
-

I have a reasonable alternative...
Turn your ass around and go back home. You're not welcome here.

Lie detectors are not perfect but they are not BS.
The problem at hand is not what to do about Syria, it is what to do about the refugees. We cannot nuke the refugees.

And you know this how? Are you former LEO? Were you trained in how to extract a confession? Please tell me how you know about this subject than I might

Sure you can nuke them. Were all the Japanese in Hiroshima and Nagasaki combatants? Highly doubt it.
But we are all cool in 2015...not one Kamikaze since 1945 :geekdanc:

Because I have learned about them and I understand the basic science behind them. Feel free to explain how you know they are such BS yet multiple agencies use them.
Your suggestion about a nuclear option is so far outside the bounds of reality, I have to ask, you don't seriously consider that an option do you?
-
Because I have learned about them and I understand the basic science behind them. Feel free to explain how you know they are such BS yet multiple agencies use them.
Because I am former LEO, and was trained on how to use the lie detector as an interrogation technique in order to extract a confession from an individual whether they are guilty or not. By intimidating the individual being interrogated with the 'results', it is easier to extract a confession from them because of all the nonsense they show us in the movies and on television, that a lie detector is never wrong. Without an a voluntary or extracted confession, the test results are admissible in court. This is also why they cannot force you to take a lie detector test in court, because it is an inconsistent science and the results can be manipulated by both the interrogator or individual, or simply defeated by the individual with proper training.
The results of a 'trained interrogator' are just an opinion; they have no relevance to the case whatsoever, other than to provider further validation for tangible evidence already present.

I agree with you there, but I wouldn't go so far as to call it total BS. It isn't just smoke and mirrors, even if it has limitations.
