This is why I didnt bring any of my firearms with me when I moved here.  I knew if I registered them, they would be confiscated.  Also glad I didnt ;) bring any of my 80% tools with me.

Maybe one day the voters of this state will wake up and realize what kind of numbskulls they elected into office.

That's why when we elect lawmakers with ZERO life experience outside of their political careers these crimes will escalate:

let's look at "special" privileges afforded to these lawmakers who want to take away our right to defend ourselves. That should be the media campaign

We.should be concerned about it but it won't pass.  We have to be focused on the state ban coming up.

I feel for you guys with gun collections.  Just like Lt. Hahn, my guns got stolen and I did not bother to report it because the Hawaii Police Dept wouldn’t do anything about it anyway.  Just like macsak, I no longer own/have or possess any firearms, ammo or reloading components.

As someone fairly new to the gun world, it would devastate me if my few firearms were confiscated. I know the possibility of the bill passing isn't a sure shot but it seems like we are getting closer and closer to that scenario. I wonder what would happen if we refused to give up our firearms? Would they just throw us in jail?

80% lower sales just jumped.

I have always wondered whether an 80% lower when finished in Hawaii is a firearm or not.

"Firearm" means any weapon, for which the operating force is an explosive, including but not limited to pistols, revolvers, rifles, shotguns, automatic firearms, noxious gas projectors, mortars, bombs, and cannon.

So. if you mill an 80% lower into a target shooting device and engrave it with "for target shooting only" its not a firearm, because it was never designed or made to be used as such.  Which IMO means no permit or registration needed. (#ImNotALawayer)

merriam-webster defines a weapon as :
1 :something (such as a club, knife, or gun) used to injure, defeat, or destroy
2 :a means of contending against another

(i could not find a legal feintion in and HRS, i may have over looked it tho)

"for target shooting only"
Then of course, there is the definition of what a target is, or is not.

No one here does anything illegal, of course.

I did two years ago and learned it was a waste and seeing those saying they got canned responses, its clear its the same old shit.

Below is an exchange I had with Pearl City Rep Gregg Takayama. I sent it in December prior to the legislative session:

Mr. Takayama,

As the 2017 Hawaii Legislative Session approaches in several months, it is my concerned hope that the leadership of the State of Hawaii will defend the rights of all citizens and uphold our Second Amendment Rights.

Over the decades, the people of Hawaii have clearly demonstrated that the sprit of ALOHA dictates our actions and the law-abiding firearm owners of Hawaii have been more than responsible with the current laws in place. Our firearms have not been forced to be altered and our overall crime rates with regards to firearms have enjoyed boastful lows compared to the rest of the country, especially compared to states like California and the city of Chicago where more stringent firearms regulations have proven to NOT curb the continued “gun violence” plaguing inner cities and the gangs involved with such crimes. Again, the spirit of ALOHA in Hawaii dictates our behavior as lessons learned from our Kupuna have been passed down to the generations today.

Response:

Aloha:

Thank you.  I agree that Hawaii's firearms laws should not be changed unnecessarily, and only if there is a clear public safety interest at stake.

Mahalo,
Gregg

You can talk to your congressman directly.  Contact their office to make an appointment to see them at the federal building in town.  Or go to their town hall meeting, you'll be in hostile territory though.

I always vote.  Presidential races are a waste of time here if you don't vote Democrat, so local offices are always more important.

Voted in all of them, useless as it is here, other than for McCain, could not do it..  Helped in West Hawaii to get over 40% of the vote for Trump.

Still drives local liberals batshit to remind them of that.  They always want to change the subject to the state-wide %.

Did vote to shitcan Abercrappie, just for the pleasure of it.  Felt weird to vote "democrat" for the first time in 50 years, but had to get the message out to Obunghole diehards.

I vote, call, and email.

Can we do a group appointment with these people. I know the town halls are all a set up agenda.  I even ask tons of questions on Twitter

These are entrenched democrats.  Their minds are closed on this and other issues.

They would just smile at a group and keep on doing what they and Soros/DNC want them to.

One thousand runners can close a highway time after time. Not saying it's the same. But our problem is there's no cohesiveness.
