sounds like self defense

He's was "detained" per HPD SOP when ever there's a homicide.
Now lets see if our AG Chin wants to get his name in the papers again and get on the good side of the dems. Guarantee if he used a gun, Chin would file charges.
-
Now the story has been steered to say it was an argument.... so.... who know what to believe. Mailboxes anyone?

This story goes a lot deeper. From what I’m hearing on the Windward side, this might have been a shake down and trying to extort money. Maybe Nalo Mafia sh!t... The guy that got stabbed, tried to hold up a gambling house in town last month. Security guy took him down. Plus he had a loaded pistol with 15 rounds.
Here’s that article...

Damn criminals get to have full cap mags and I have to carry an extra gimp mag just to even the playing field.

wow, that's only 1 month ago. thanks for the info. sounds like a career criminal.
good thing HPD is confiscating firearms from medical marijuana users, that'll fix the problem.

he shouldn't have had it as they are outlawed - banned...
-
Oahu Gun Club is blowing up on this, assuming its legit self defense. I tell em don't jump to conclusions so fast until we get more info. We can lose a lot of credibility if we get it wrong.

News said shop has security cameras and someone filmed it also.
Does the dead guys friend get charged with the murder?
He left his friend for dead in the car and took off. You think maybe drive up the street to the hospital?

Kailua tattoo shop owner released in murder investigation
" The shop owner said he looked away and was punched in the head, said Sgt. Chris Kim of Honolulu CrimeStoppers."
Doesnt' look like he's going to get charged. Sucker punch to the head sounds like a robbery gone wrong (or right).

wait for it...
Family members identified the deceased as Dayson Kaae, 24. They want more answers, because they don’t know what to believe.
“I’m trying to piece things together, who is he with, who did he talk to last, what was he doing there, things like that. Everything just, it’s just not believable at this moment,” said Sade Delos Reyes. “Right now, we want some peace, a little bit of closure.”
Even though Delos Reyes was Kaae’s niece, they grew up together and she called him her brother.
“He was a fun person to be around. Whenever there was family functions, he was always there,” she said.

One thing that boggles my mind is 2 guys go unarmed (assumed) into a cash only tattoo parlor to start trouble, one that is filled with other workers and customers.
Now I know bad guys aren't very smart, but they have a good self-preservation instinct. Leads me to believe something was going on.
Reminds me of this

http://www.kitv.com/story/36948493/family-of-man-killed-in-kailua-stabbing-seeks-closure
from the family's interview, doesn't sound like he's a role model citizen. they kept saying stuff like "whatever he did, I'm sure it didn't need to get escalated as far as it did". Whenver the family brings up stuff like loving son, father to 3 kids, big heart, whatever; instead of the fact that he has a clean record, professional job, model citizen, etc etc, you know he's done a lot of stupid shit before, and it basically caught up to him. And it's unfortunate for all of them that he got the really short end of the stick instead of going to jail or getting away with the crime. Like the saying goes, you play stupid games, you might win stupid prizes.
Condolences to the family

Agoot boi!
Notice criminals get to have all the goodies. Illegal hand gun with 15 round illegal magazine. At least hpd is neutralizing the real threat, those evil legal pot smokers and potentially mental people that the hospital has no record of ever being treated for mental illness.

So much ignorance and flat-out stupidity displayed by several members on the FB page. That FB post was FAIL from the get-go. When individuals continually display a one-track minded, witch-hunt like agenda focused at someone, something, or some agency, there is absolutely no chance for reasonable discussion. It does not matter if your opinions or disdain for the person or entity is even justified or not.
It gets even more hilarious when some of the posters show more of their ass when they don't even know what they are talking about when it comes to arrested vs. charged. Have they ever taken a basic firearms safety or CCW course, or thought enough to educate themselves on Hawaii Law and how the system works? Love it or hate it, it makes them look more like babbling idiots with an agenda stuck up their ass and it is hard to take anything they say after that seriously.
HPD Officers involved in a homicide gets booked. Charges are up to the Prosecutors office and while evidence can change, it would seem unreasonable for the liberal-leaning prosecutors' office to release someone from custody, especially on a murder charge, unless if they had very good reason to do so. So the system in place seemed to be applied equitably in this instance. Now one may not like the "system" that Hawaii follows and that is another valid discussion, but some show they cannot have a reasonable and/or intelligent discussion. Sad when we blame the left for unreasonable behavior about the 2nd Amendment when they are clearly ignorant about firearms and then those on in favor of the 2nd Amendment and self-defense act just as poorly. We blame liberals for behavior like that and the same damn thing happens from gun owners. Sad indeed.

I 2nd what Surf said. Although I wouldn't be as blunt.

People saying this might be the guy who left his friend for dead.

I don't have the Facebook but it sounds that some people think Goodrich used excessive force. Sheez the guy was attacked at his business by at least 2 people.
-
What Surf is saying is the 2a community is using the BLM playbook for this case.
Minus the rioting.
-
well, if I'm that bumbling idiot or ass; then mods please take this post down. Forgive my ignorance.
-
What I see as stupid is why is his friends, family, acquaintances, hanging outside of the guy's business trying to intimidate the guy? If they were going to retaliate, they would've done so. It's almost like high schoolers waiting outside of class until the end of 6th period gym to beat the guy up. Come on now. He may be damn well legally carrying now in his place of business.

I was not following what was going on on the Oahu Gun FB page today. Sounds like I was lucky I wasn't.

He should apply for CCW now while he has a significant, articulable threat to his and his employees' safety. If the Cops couldn't help him from across the street first time, they can't tell him, "Just call 911".

Yeah, Hard to call 911 while someone is punching you in the head.

I certainly would as well as document with video every encounter with his acquaintances. Sadly I hope he doesn't lose his a$$ in a civil lawsuit.

Hey man, sorry if I came across wrong with your post. I have no issues with the post you made here. If you had seen the train wreck of a discussion on FB than you would probably understand. Of course, a train wreck is only my description of my opinion, but it is obvious that a few in that discussion on FB see things very differently. And yes Zippz is correct in that some on our side use the same scumbag and "mob mentality" tactics as those we are repulsed by on the left. It happens on this forum from time to time also and we have had discussions about that and how it turns off many new members who never return. But now we are drifting into dead horse beating.

Seems like folks on both sides can get caught up in twisting words or also falling for how the MSM presents the story.
I have no idea about the FB page in question nor do I care to venture there, but someone I respect got all wound up in response that the shop guy (that was apparently defending himself) was reported to have been arrested for murder and held. I wasn't following the story that closely, but what I did see what that he was arrested for homicide, which is what I understood was the standard procedure no matter the apparent cause/fault/etc. Yeah, that probably sucks for what appears to be a clear case of self-defense, but if that's the proper procedure, that's the proper procedure. Have to get to the facts and sometimes that takes time. Anyways, had the guy actually was arrested for murder and charged, that would be a different story.
So many jumping to conclusions and many times based on bad information or many times bad reporting. Like that incident where a cop was reported to have shot an unarmed man when he was on the ground. As it turned out from video that was technically true as the first shot was when the guy had a gun in his hand and second shot was in about a second when the guy threw his gun over the fence and was falling to the ground. If the news only reports "officer shoots unarmed man shot while on the ground surrendering", then yeah, that's something else. But after watching video of the incident, you get a different story. Also, keep in mind that much of the analysis has the benefit of slow motion and in the comfort of an office environment, where your heart rate is at it's normal resting rate.

Unfortunately I heard the guy has a shady past as well, otherwise, if he was 2a friendly, he could make it a point to apply for CCW. Chalk it up as a missed opportunity.
