I would ignore some of the hypothetical responses. In as few words as possible announce:
"You are trespassing in my home. If you advance any further, then I reserve the right to use force to prevent serious injury to my family."
I would turn on the exterior alarm to the house, get my weapon ready, and dial 911. Your subsequent actions depend on the layout of your home, i.e., where the rest of your family is located, how many levels you have in the house, etc. Never pair the word force with deadly. Don't let the invader know how many weapons you have.
I was in line this morning at the PTA office at HPD. One guy was getting 3 handgun permits. I did not have to ask him why he is adding more guns to his collection. A gun that runs out of ammo, or jams, is a deadweight. A backup gun can mean the difference between life and serious physical injury.

I'm going to be either immediately shooting, or on a 911 call -- depending on the time afforded me -- so I can have the dispatcher record everything that happens.

Me: "I have a gun. Don't come any closer, or I WILL SHOOT YOU." *You have to dumb it down and not use lots of syllables.
<The Intruder advances>
Me: "I said "STOP!" I WILL shoot you!"

Me: "Hello? I need an ambulance at my home address. A man's been shot. I'll be at the front door waiting for the police."

Don't remain on the line with the 911 dispatcher. Any questions you answer and any statements you make in the heat of the moment will be recorded and used against you.

Hifico was trying to add in to the deadly force law that if u announce ur armed, then its legal to shoot because the bad guy knows ur armed and still wants to come at u shows their intent. But nothing came of this. They also wanted to amend damage to a window or door also would allow use of deadly force because bad guy showed theyre willing to break stuff and go thru the hassle to harm u.
There is no law that u have to announce anything to the bad guy. Use of deadly force law states ur belief. So IMO adding in more stuff to think about like saying a phrase will add to more things u can mess up under stress.
Say u get the phrase wrong and ur neighbor tells the cops what they heard. Now u have more explaining to do.
Saying ur armed or what ever hopefully stops the bad guy and they retreat. So 50/50. A simple "get out" would be easier.

The bigger problem with including an escape clause in the law would be: say someone shoots an intruder. He merely has to state he told the guy whatever phrase negates criminal wrongdoing, and he's free as long as witnesses or recordings don't contradict his account.
Kind of like Cops routinely stating, "I was in fear for my life and the lives of those around me, so I shot him 15 times .... then reloaded and shot another 5, just to make sure the threat was stopped!"

How I wish Hawaii's general attitude toward SD and firearms would see it this way. They always think of the criminal's rights before the rights of law abiding citizens for some stupid, cock-a-mamied bleeding heart liberal reason.

Nothing says, "Here I am, and I really don't want to shoot you,' quite like yelling, "I have a gun" in a dark living room at 3AM.
This whole discussion is based on the feel-good bleeding heart position that someone breaking into your home "just" to rob you -- not hurt you -- should not be given a death sentence. Give the poor unfortunate soul a chance to give up and face a judge and jury before sending him off this mortal plain of existence.
I see the argument, but there's only one real solution:

If I have a gun or not I will probably say I am armed, certainly not going to say I am unarmed.
I will almost certainly announce myself unless I can see they are armed or they are about to harm a family member. Heaven forbid it was a case of mistaken identity or something.
