Nope shooters playing with stuff when the ROs arent looking, making a game of it and making yheir own rules about flagging peeps with muzzles. Same ole stuff just more of it today.

I agree, pretty messed... The good & bad of so many "new" shooters ;)
Worst range day for me happened about 15 years ago when a parent lost track of his 4 y.o. daughter who ended up infront of my bench while picking up "shiny brass". I caught a glimps of the top of her head below my muzzle as she stood up just before sending a round down range with my M1A. I called a ceasefire & the guy got booted. The shot would've have been over her but I'm certain the muzzle blast would've done bad things regardless. Still shutter a little just thinking about it, I stopped going to Koko Head for a couple years after that.
Anyway...

Were you all the way on the left side of the rifle range this afternoon? If so, I'm pretty sure I know the group of people you were talking about. I was in that area from around 1 pm until closing. They didn't even pick up most of their casings from their AK.

I was at the silhouette side today. Only had to wait about 10 minutes for a stall. Surrounded by shooters who were competent and followed the rules. Not as many went out to reset targets as should have, but otherwise, it was a good day to get reacquainted with the range.

All I remember is that one of the AKs had a bipod.

I'da run him off in a heartbeat,had I been the range officer. With the support of all those around I would like to think. That kind of bull shit and lack of discipline has NO place
at the range.

The RO didn't see it and a neighboring shooter told them. They came and went with negative vibes. The line was called cold and when the RO turned away all of them made a concerted effort to snatch stuff up from the bench while people were still downrange and left. Some people think the range is too strict, I think otherwise; maybe it is because the first range I shot on was an Army range in basic. I witnessed an Article 15 in the making when a soldier discharged her weapon while the line was cold. That event happened so quick and it is apparent that there can never be enough ROs.

Its shooters like that give the rest of us a bad rap. For the most part our shooting community here his very helpful with new shooters and new shooters are very receptive to the input. Guy was probably a Call of Duty ranger or internet commando. That's why I try not to shoot on the weekends. They mostly come out on the weekends.

I make it a point to correct new comers before they get yelled at. I DO NOT want to see and accident happen that could shut us down. With all this BS going on right now, that is the last thing we need!

Good on you bro :thumbsup: I try most of the time but depending on the shooter cause sometimes they come off as know it alls. Sometimes they bring friends who are even newer to shooting and they get all defensive cause they feel as if they are being shown up in front of their friends. Lots of attitude to say the least. Gotta say though that thats usually not the case. Most new shooters are open to the feed back.

Are they cutting back on the number of ROs ?
The ROs are usually pretty good about catching that kind of stuff and correcting it. I remember getting scolded/corrrected by the RO my first solo trip to the range for crossing the yellow line during a cease fire/range is cold. Woke my butt up and I never did it again.
I remember RO swearing at a guy over the loud speaker who was sweeping his muzzle while re-casing his rifle. This is after he tried to tell the gentleman "nicely" twice prior but the guy wasn't listening.
With all the Newbs with no mentorship, it might get pretty crazy out there. And apparently not everyone's cool like the folks here on 2A.
The report of the guy telling a veteran shooter F-U for the advice is seriously messed up.

i'd just like to know the numbers in the group, male/female, attire, equipment etc so i know what to watch for

i think we should be an informed community and work together towards improving the situation on the range, so this is the reason i'd like to get a general idea of what these people were like

i wouldnt mind if they let go of the 5 rounds deal or the rapid fire rules 8)
but i dont think you can ever be too strict about muzzle discipline and the firing line. that's how deadly accidents happen.

Sometimes but usually the line goes hot before the advertised open time. It can get packed when they hold their matches. I believe its the first sunday of every month.

I was with the group of about 5 people like 5-6 benches away. Took some new shooters out to the range for the first time. Glock 17 and HK USP 40c on the bullseye side and then my DDM4 V5 and Arsenal SLR-101s on the rifle side.
The rifle side was MUCH busier than I though it would be and we were a little rushed to finish the ammo they bought for the rifle side. Fun day though. :thumbsup:
Did you previously mention that you shoot with the SRGC as well? I have to get out there for one of the KR-3 shoots soon.

They were a group of 3 guys with 2 of them late 20s to early 30s. The other guy was older with a navy hat, the ones with a ship name on it. They were trying to zero a Remington 700p. I knew they could care less about range rules when they were taking stuff off the bench during a cease fire. I think the Remmy was a .223 as I heard one of them say that .223 = 5.56 . If this is you or your buddies the shooter who reminded you was just trying to avoid having the RO remind you and promote a safe environment.
