@k3k0a808

i'm looking at SB401 HD1 (I think that's the right one?):

expands the current 10rd pistol mag limit to all firearms.

the 50cal ban also bans Desert Eagle 50AE as far as I can tell, for what it's worth.  Neither here nor there, since nobody has those anyways, right?

Ah.. ok there it is... thanks! Is this mean a grandfather clause?

This subsection shall not apply to a person's possession of an assault rifle, an assault shotgun, or a .50 caliber firearm registered to the person before July 8, 2025, pursuant to 134-3.
     A person authorized under this subsection to possess an assault rifle, an assault shotgun, or a .50 caliber firearm shall possess that weapon only:
     (1)  On private property owned or immediately controlled by the person;

     (2)  On private property that is not open to the public with the express permission of the person who owns or immediately controls the property;

     (3)  While on the premises of a licensed firearms dealer or gunsmith for the purpose of lawful repair;

     (4)  While engaged in the legal use of the assault rifle, assault shotgun, or .50 caliber firearm at a properly licensed firing range or sport shooting competition venue; or

     (5)  While traveling to or from the locations listed in paragraphs (1) through (4); provided that the assault rifle, assault shotgun, or .50 caliber firearm is unloaded in an enclosed container, as defined in section 134-24.

reading this new bill.. I dont see anything about magazine limits.. just "fixed" mags.. also is that stuff about anything before July 8th, a grandfather clause? I know its all shit just want to understand it.

it looks like after they changed it up there was a swing in votes? 8 no's to 2 aye's?

General Discussion / Re: PSA won't ship 10 round AR mag
« on: October 26, 2024, 08:34:10 PM »
I ran a test to try and purchase a 30rd AR-15 PMag on https://gunmagwarehouse.com

Their shipping restrictions include Hawaii:  no mags over 10rds that fit any pistol.

Attempting to check-out confirmed they won't ship that mag to Hawaii addresses.  I was stopped before entering any payment info.

I tried again with a 10rd AR Mag.  It let me proceed to the payment portion of the check-out process.

For what it's worth.  If you're still looking for 10rd AR mags, PMags are $12.99 and shipping is $4.99 if under 1lb via USPS 1st class.

They offer free shipping on select items but only to the contiguous 48 states.

I tried to buy a 20rd M1A Magazine from them recently and they wouldn't ship it, I emailed them asking why they won't since it cannot be used in a pistol. Their response was:

Hello,

Unfortunately, because that rifle could be converted into a pistol and still utilize that magazine we do not ship those magazines to Hawaii.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,

I emailed back asking for them to show me one M1A that has been converted to a pistol... still haven't heard back from them

The AG rep stated a clipped knife in the pocket is open carry.  IMO, a clip is part of the knife.

Nice, thanks for the reply... ive read the bill and I dont see anything about daggers. are those still prohibited?

So recap.
The state does this, change a unconstitutional law and that way they stiff the lawyer on the attorney fees.  The reasoning is that the lawsuit is now moot because X is legal now.  We saw this with Tasers.

This is where the state has the advantage of "F-U, sue us".  Cause they know most attorny's won't waste their time to get paid for damages and most people won't drop $50K, just to start a lawsuit.

They are doing the same now, but we're fighting back. Butterfly knives cannot be practically open carried, as they have no clip because it would affect the opening and closing operation of the knife.  Basically, saying the lawsuit must continue. Hope a judge feels the same way.

is there a definition to open carry? does a knife with a deep carry clip meet the requirements.. or does so much of the handle need to be showing?

Firearms and Accessories / Re: First 1911 in 45
« on: May 19, 2022, 09:43:43 PM »
The quality of the 1911 is largely a function of price.  The Springfield Professional 1911 that the FBI and HRT (Hostage Rescue Team) issue has a civilian MSRP of $3,363.00,  But the tolerances on it are so tight, it takes some breaking-in just to be able to rack the slide easily!

My 1911 is the Sig Nightmare.  I chose it because it takes the standard 1911 design and improves some of the ergonomics.  Plus, the black and silver colors just appeal to me.  Comes with an 8rd mag and 7rd mag.  I also got a free soft Sig pistol case at the time.  I added a few Wilson Combat Elite 8rd mags.

Hickok45 goes into great detail on the specs, close tolerances and accuracy of the Springfield Professional.  If $1200 is your budget, then get the most gun with the best reviews you can in that price range.

If this is for range shooting, look at one with adjustable sights.  You should probably try out several 1911s from other owners or rent them at a range if they have.  So many out there, and your preferences may not be similar to others.

I have the Nightmare carry, me and my wife love it. (Its her favorite handgun out of the collection)

General Discussion / Re: FFL transfer vs On Island Purchase
« on: June 05, 2021, 09:44:25 PM »
I'd be curious when this happened.  They absolutely do transfers now, and the have AFAIK since 2013 at least.  When I was shopping around for an FFL near me, I drove there and talked to them about prices.  I wound up using OGC, even though X-Ring is much closer to my home.

https://www.xringsecurity.com/ccms/index.cfm/services/

March of this year.. believe me, I looked on their website and saw the same thing when I was going thru this.. I wanted them to send it somewhere else but they said no matter what it was going to cost at least 350 because they had to do the paperwork to receive it. The guy I talked to on the phone was rude and all he said was “well someone has to pay for it”

Wow! I hope there were at least 10 firearms in that transaction, or somewhat special transfers. Never thought it was that outrageous at xring. I know the owner professionally.

nope, just one. was the middle of the night and a rifle i always wanted popped up in stock on palmetto state armory, so i bought it quick and sent it to xring because palmetto had them as a preferred FFL and ive done transfers with them before. when it got there they called me and said they dont do FFL transfers anymore. so i found someone else to send it to and told them to send it, they said 350 for the fee +shipping. or i can pick it up from them for 350. so i went there, paid, it was around 375ish and told them they will never see my face again.
