As the barrel gets dirty I gain more FPS. I shot 25 rounds one week to fire form following weekend same load gains about 10-20 FPS down a dirty barrel. Never fails
You're about the same state that I am with both my .308 and 6.5 in ready for starting load development/refinement. I'm likely going to start with 6.5, but plan is to have both in the works, but staggered.

I had velocity changes since the my first test just keeps going up. 42 gr varget getting around 2650 FPS. Finally getting around to testing the custom die for a tight chamber, now that i got 100 pieces of 1x fired brass I’m on the load testing again.
I found 2 powder nodes to test around 2600 or 2650 fps. I went as high as 2763 with 168 gr bullets.
Next will be seating depth test. I have an idea where it should be just need to test the powder loads at that seating depth.

« on: May 13, 2022, 01:28:03 AM »RL15 41.0-43.0Ahhh for varget 41 grains I’m getting about 2580-2600 FPS using 168 out of a 24” clean barrel. I’m just fire forming the brass so more testing to come.
2420-2570 fps
Well below book velocities. Likely will do ladder test higher.
Varget 41.0-43.0
2510-2660 fps
Slightly higher than book velocities with the 26” barrel. No pressure signs.

CZ457 shooting Eley and extraction issues.

CZ 457 16.75” lilja barrel
I was having extraction issues with eley tenex I ended having to size down to .390 for smooth but not flawless extraction. I was at the range shooting and I put 150 or 200 round through it.
I had one or two non extractions then I packed up to head home when a buddy showed up. He asked to shoot my gun as soon as he started shooting the extraction issues started horribly. I couldn’t get any extraction at all.
I cleaned in the actions took the bolt apart wiped it all down. Nothing seemed to fix it.
I ended up coming back home and tinkered with headspace some more and fiddled with the extractor arms. Nothing was working but after inspecting the spent shells I noticed how deformed the casings were after being fired.
The firing pin was hitting the shells with a footprint that was warping the shells to the point it was getting wedged into the chamber. So I filed down the firing pin so it just leaves a pin head sized footprint on the shell. Now it’s not effecting the shape of the fired shells.
I’m no longer having any extraction issues at all. I hope if anyone has this problem you try this because it works fantastic.

« on: March 14, 2022, 07:52:30 AM ».22lr tuner and adapter arrived over the weekend. I also ordered a Lilja threaded barrel this morning and it's on it's way. I'll likely install the tuner on the OEM CZ barrel and test it out. However, if I get busy with work and the Lilja barrel arrives before I can get to the range again, I may be tempted to just go with the tuner on the Lilja barrel.EC tuner?

Are you looking to get a CZ457?
I’m not really one to tweak stuff like FCG, firing pin, etc. But who knows, y’all pushing me down the rabbit hole. I might try it if OEM firing pins are easy to come by.
Rimfire central if you follow or chat with the right guys they’ll give you tips or tricks that actually made a difference.
At the end of the day you have to test for yourself what works and what doesn’t work on your gun.

« on: March 08, 2022, 11:19:32 PM »Yeah. I have their whole line of solvents. Eliminator, C4, Copper for centerfire and Rimfire Blend for the CZ. Was using Wipe Out on the previous .308. Will still use for centerfire, but liking the Boretech stuff so far.I tried the rimfire blend and it didn’t seem to do anything for me. I just stick with the c4 and eliminator. Switch to kg12 for copper and it takes all the copper out with one wet patch.

« on: March 08, 2022, 10:59:07 PM »How far back from the start of the rifling? I didn’t see anything from the rifling all the way back.The freebore area is where I got the carbon ring. Boretech c4 is good stuff, let the patch soak in the barrel.
The folks I’ve consulted mentioned using Boretech C4 and brushes. Then Boretech Chameleon gel for bad carbon rings. Will see what happened. I’ll likely shoot the stock barrel for a while before changing to a Lilja.
