« on: August 19, 2020, 05:25:49 PM »
What's up,
My wife and I are new members here on Oahu. We having waiting to get into the gun industry for years but like many of you don't want to deal with the headache of the permit and registration drama here! So we are looking for any advice we can get how to find that loophole in the system to get it done faster...(which is a long shot, but doesn't hurt to try? Right?) Thank you in advance for any advice that is posted here appreciate all of it!

Mahalo,
Lanson

Welcome to the community. Sorry I dont know of any loop holes but if you find some let me know too.  :D

General Discussion / Re: Kokohead still open with new Communist rules?
« on: August 19, 2020, 03:34:59 PM »
Koko Head Shooting Complex is open.  The only areas in the facility that are closed at this time are the Metallic Silhouette and Action Bays.

Im glad they are keeping it open and the governor didnt change him mind.

Hawaii is part of the 9th Circuit.

so if Hawaii is part of the 9th Circuit Court then will this affect us or is it only restricted to California?

A three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on Friday threw out California’s ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines, saying the law violates the U.S. Constitution’s protection of the right to bear firearms.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
“Even well-intentioned laws must pass constitutional muster,” Appellate Judge Kenneth Lee wrote for the panel’s majority. California’s ban on magazines holding more than 10 bullets “strikes at the core of the Second Amendment — the right to armed self-defense.”⁣⁣
California Attorney General Xavier Becerra did not immediately say if he would ask the full appellate court to reconsider the ruling by the three judges, or if he would appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.⁣⁣

He also did not immediately say if the state would seek a delay of the ruling to prevent an immediate buying spree. Sales are currently on hold based on a stay by the lower court and cannot immediately resume.⁣⁣

U.S. District Court Judge Barbara Lynn of Texas, who had been named the third judge on the appellate panel, said the majority’s ruling conflicts with decisions in six other district courts across the nation.

Another win for the 2A community!!!

Well now that sucks....but very understandable!

The mayor did say that Koko Head shooting Range will remain open along with golf courses. We should be good for now.

We're waiting on inventory to see when the next pallet will go out.  We're aiming for later August or September, but its dependent on when (if?) 223/556, 9mm, and non-match 22LR comes back in.  2/3 of the pallet is usually 223/556 and 9mm so we're dependent on those restocking.  From mid-March there has been at least some sprinkling of inventory coming back in regularly, but it has been a couple of weeks of no-restocking.  There are some oddball Lapua rifle and SK 22LR still in stock, but all the range or plinking price range ammo is hard to come by.  Supposedly the big manufactures (Federal etc) have been pumping out rounds, but they don't seem to have hit the market yet.  Some of the wholesaler distributors also supply their own retail locations (for example, Crow Shooting Supply is the same company as Brownells and Countrywide Sports is the same as Outdoor Limited) and those combo companies seem to be diverting inventory to their retail operations instead of restocking the wholesale side.  Can't really blame them for doing so because they probably make a lot more profit selling retail.

So had my reg appointment today for 3 pistols at 1130.......but ogc is closed due one guy had training on the mainland. The other guy had food poisoning and Carter is no where to seen :grrr: fukn thanks guys  with the reg out 3 months guess I'll be one of those guys trying to register with an ancient permit to aquire.

Anybody else get oofed today :shaka:
Thats why i stopped buying hand guns until this whole mess clears up. but long guns at least they let you take it home even though your registration is far away. The only thing is that you cant shoot it until you register it which is 100% fine with me.

Ammo availability drives my gun choices.
5.56 X 45 is not made everywhere.
7.62 X 39 is.

5.56 doesnt have to be made everywhere, only where you live and the 556 is America's caliber. unless you plan on taking you AK's over sees to use it doesnt really matter. Anywhere and everywhere here in the USA you can find 556. That drives my gun choices in getting ARs. Just saying.

Just a FYI, there is a way for the government to track when the mag was made.  On Pmags, there is a year and month date on it.  I'm sure other mags are the same, so inspect closely.

But there is nothing in the law saying it's illegal to remove that manufacture date.

Thanks i didnt even know about that!

So, if this passes (likely at this point), and HPD doesn't require the mags to be marked/serialized ......

PM me if you'd like to "rent" some mags to add to your grandfathered list.

I may be making a few of trips to grandfather 3X my stash -- acquisition of which is TBD.   :geekdanc:

I was thinking the same thing!

SEC has cases of 5.56 and 9mm on the floor, Federal rifle ammo was $375, forgot to get pistol price.
The 9mm Case of Federals were $325 at SEC.
