General Discussion / To Catch a Predator
« on: July 29, 2015, 06:54:52 PM »
I think this guy got off easy, a lot of people would've left him in a ditch.  I hope they dropped him off at the PD instead.

Texas Cops are being taught the "Catch 22" method of asking for ID.

1.  Cop asks for ID, but has no reasonable suspicion you committed any crime, and you are not under arrest.

2.  You respectfully decline to ID yourself because the law gives you the right to decline.

3.  Now the Cop arrests you because the ACT OF REFUSING TO ID YOURSELF is reasonable suspicion, making ID mandatory.

4.  So, to avoid being arrested for failure to ID, you have to ID yourself even if they don't already have cause to require it.

Kind of like saying if you plea the 5th, you are making an admission of guilt.

Kinda like getting arrested at a DUI checkpoint for refusing to blow.

General Discussion / Re: So they did find chemical weapons in Iraq...
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:09:53 AM »
A lot of us brought this up back in 2004 after we came home from OIF 1, everyone said "those aren't the chemical weapons we were looking for." and no news agency would pick it up.  No idea why its grabbing traction now, all I can say is we told you so.

Strategies and Tactics / Re: One-handed / Weak side pistol shooting?
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:05:36 AM »
The dot torture drill is good practice. HDF normally does it during their pistol courses.

•Dot 1 – Draw and fire one string of 5 rounds for best group. One hole if possible, total 5 rounds.
•Dot 2 – Draw and fire 1 shot, holster and repeat X4, total 5 rounds.
•Dots 3 & 4 – Draw and fire 1 shot on #3, then 1 shot on #4, holster and repeat X3, total 8 rounds.
•Dot 5 – Draw and fire string of 5 rounds, strong hand only, total 5 rounds.
•Dots 6 & 7 – Draw and fire 2 shots on #6, then 2 on #7, holster, repeat X4, total 16 rounds.
•Dot 8 – From ready or retention, fire five shots, weak hand only, total 5 rounds.
•Dots 9 & 10 – Draw and fire 1 shot on #9, speed reload, fire 1 shot on #10, holster and repeat X3, total 6 rounds.

Ive heard about this but never tried it, gonna try it tomorrow morning and see how I do.

General Discussion / Re: AR-15 Armorer on Oahu?
« on: October 27, 2014, 10:01:42 AM »
I have never seen a factory gun with red loctite. I have had customers bring them in with red loctite that they did. Bust out the torch to get those loose!

Knights Armament loctites theirs, so Ive heard.  Never had a reason to pull a buffer tube from a SR15 to find out.  For the OP, all you need is a spanner wrench and some muscle, Ive broke tq holding the receiver against the floor with my foot while turning the nut.

MKII'S were $400, MKIII's were $440, and the alloy was $500.  All the wear is external holster wear, there is very little wear internally from firing.

Alloy frame FN Hi Power (Austrian Border Patrol gun) with ambi safety and MKIII grips; AIM Surplus had them for about a day along with a bunch of steel frame MKII's and MKIII's.

General Discussion / Re: XCR-M 308 - better than a SCAR-17s???
« on: November 25, 2013, 06:41:26 PM »
Consider both rifles need to be sent in for parts and repair FNHUSA handle it better then Robarms.

While Alex Robinson did initially conceived the the XCR it still needs refinement and support(aftermarket).

You can order everything but the serialized receiver of the SCAR though browning parts dept.

« on: November 13, 2013, 11:15:19 AM »
Ive never had an issue, Ive always been treated as if Im on travel orders and my guns are gov owned (never flown commercial with issued firearms.)  Whenever I fly into HNL I have to wait 15-20 minutes after baggage claim is finished so they can cart my stuff out separately, but Ive never had an issue anywhere.

General Discussion / Re: Russian Handgun Training
« on: November 08, 2013, 05:15:26 PM »
While taking hits purposely during training seems pretty far fetched, shooting around live targets is pretty commonplace with some of the elite groups out there.  SAS being most famous, with Margaret Thatcher participating as a hostage during live fire exercises in their killhouse.
