General Discussion / Re: Flying with firearms (Hawaiian)

Hawaiian doesn’t allow ammo to be stored in mags even though TSA and other airlines do. Ammo must be stored in original packaging (boxes, not loose) or in a plastic container that keeps the rounds from touching each other.

I tried to fly with ammo in mags once and I had to turn over the ammo to the airport police and they had to fill out a report.

Technically any lithium ion batteries need to be carried in your carry-on due to fire hazards. Hawaiian and a couple flights where lithium ion batteries exploded in the cargo causing an internal fire…that being said, I’ve never taken out the batteries from the lights/optics when flying.

So would it be ok to keep the batteries as long as their in storage containers that keep them from moving? and in my carry on? Or just keep the one's that's installed in my optics and weapon lights?

Hey yall, I'd be moving to AZ this year from Oahu. And I have a few concerns since I'll be flying HA with my miles to save on expenses.

I know I'll have to sell majority of my ammo because of weight limit. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with HA, traveling with my ammo storage in my PMAGS with the covers. If anyone ran into any issues doing this.

Also if anyone ran into any issues with having batteries in their optics or weapon lights. As well as having spare cr123 batteries in their kit, in their check in pelican cases?
