The security guard was outside, waiting for SWAT.. but they were obviously "on their way".

"When seconds count, Police are only minutes away."  Proven once again...

Of course we all know that guns kill people like forks make Rosie fat....

Never witnessed so much humor in truth! Haha!

I always said that Rosie is just jealous because Tom Selleck is probably in a relationship with someone, while the only relationship she has is with her fridge. =)

Don't know how many of you saw this.  The story is, Rosie invited Tom Selleck on her show with the premise that she would like to talk about his new movie. (at the time)  In reality, she wanted to have an opportunity to attack Tom and to spread her anti-gun hate.   :wtf:

General Discussion / Re: Tom Selleck's TV show Blue Bloods

Another gun fact used in this show was Tom Selleck's reference to his characters carry gun.  He makes note that he still carries his grandfathers "Fitz Special."  Sure enough, in one episode where he is required to use it, it is indeed an old wheel gun with the trigger guard cut off.  Nice to see a pro-gun actor stick to proper technical aspects.  Tom Selleck is known to be a die-hard 1911 aficionado.

Interestingly enough Chicago has a law that protects those with "illegal" firearms if they use it in their homes for self-defense.......

Good to hear.

I want to hear what the anti-gun mayor has to say.

Good point!  Especially when the only thing that saved this this man and his family was the actions of himself and not the Police Dept the liberal policy makers say will protect us.

I figure with all the talk about how convertible airsoft is to a real gun, we should be able to show the opposite.  HA!

Here's a way to turn your real steel Glock into an airsoft look-a-like, and without red paint!

General Discussion / M&P 9 and 9c
« on: May 28, 2010, 08:01:54 AM »
I was in Security Equipment the other day and got to handle a S&W M&P 9c.  I have shot the full size 9 and it is a great shooter!  More than accurate, very flat shooting, excellent recovery time between shots, and reliable, well if you can call it that after only shooting 300rnds, but my buddy tells me no malfunctions after a few thousand since hes owned it.  My only complaint would be the trigger reset.  It is long and not defined, definitely favors being slapped and not squeezed.  The 9c or subcompact felt very comfortable in hand.  Seemed to be slightly larger than a Glock 26.  The grip on either seemed more accommodating than the Glocks I own in any format, full-size compact, and sub-compact.  If I was not so invested in the Glock platform (i.e. mags, holsters, sights, parts, etc) I'd be hard pressed not to switch over.  From what I hear, this is an observation which is common amongst a lot of Glock shooters.

Reloading / Re: Who reloads their own ammo?

Houdni, I only use a progressive for handgun calibers and .223.  For 308 and 300WM I still use a single stage.  In terms of case trimming, yes it all must be done prior to the feeder or touching any dies.

Dont worry bro, I myself am still learning.  Through it all you acquire what works and what makes sense to you.  After all why do you think a notebook of your loads is so important.

I saw the coverage on the news last night.  My question is, why fire a Sig P226 from a ransom rest?  Well, in matter of public safety, I hope this encourages practice and range time for our men and women in uniform to ensure first shot accuracy.  I have heard stories from officers that firearms practice only takes place once a year before qualifying.  Scary thought.

The buttstock is made out of white oak. It'd make more sense if the barrel was made of white oak. :)

Hahaha, good one!

Combat Experience with the .45 ACP

Oft times, comments on this net are about GySgt. Carlos Hathcock’s  sniping adventures in Vietnam. Here’s one that very few know about, but is probably just as good as far as accuracy during combat is concerned.   A Navy SEAL Team was returning from a mission over North Vietnam in a chopper when it got hit pretty bad. The pilot and one crew member were killed and the copilot was wounded. Going into autorotation, the copilot managed to set the chopper down in a clearing. After landing, a few   rounds of enemy fire were starting to come in. Seems the M60s were also damaged beyond use by the crash landing and initial RPG hit, the only M16 fell out on the way down.  The only firearms left was M1911s.The remaining crew member was carrying a match conditioned M1911 and had a few boxes of ammo. As more enemy small arms fire started coming in, the copilot and crew member also noted that the VC were coming out of the jungle and approaching them; shooting as they came. The crew member took out his .45 and took careful aim as he shot at each attacking VC. About 30 minutes later it was all over. Between reloading magazines and radioing for rescue, the         copilot was pretty busy, but a rescue chopper finally arrived on the scene. As the rescue chopper came in and landed, its crew noticed a lot of dead VC laying around. The downed helo’s remaining crew were picked up and on their way out, they counted the dead VC; 37 in all. Their distances from the downed helo were from 3 to about 150 yards; all shot by the crew member with his M1911 .45 ACP. About 80 rounds were fired by Petty Officer R.J. Thomas, a member of the USN Rifle and Pistol Team.  Petty Officer Thomas was recommended for the Congressional Medal of Honor, but by the time the recommendation got all the way up through the chain of command, the recognition was reduced to the Navy Cross.  This incident has been cited this as the only known of example of top-level combat marksmanship since SGT Alvin York’s escapades in WWI.

General Discussion / Felipe Calderon
« on: May 24, 2010, 07:49:54 AM »
This is an article sent to me in my NRA Newsletter dated 5/21/2010.

"On  Thursday, Felipe Calderon, the president of Mexico, where prohibitive  gun laws prevent good people from having firearms for protection  against criminals and governments of dubious legitimacy (historically  the norm in Mexico), encouraged Congress to reinstate the federal  "assault weapon" ban. With a warning seemingly designed to appeal to  those who believe that speaking out against the Obama Administration's  policies are one step short of sedition or worse, Calderon said, "f  you do not regulate the sale of these weapons in the right way, nothing  guarantees that criminals here in the United States with access to the  same power of weapons will not decide to challenge American authorities  and civilians."

Calderon  also misinformed Congress, claiming that violence in Mexico rose  significantly after the U.S. ban expired in 2004. In fact, Mexico's murder rate has been stable  since 2003 and remains well below rates recorded previously. However,  he did not explain why violent crime has declined significantly in the  U.S. since the ban expired, or how a ban on flash suppressors and  bayonet mounts relates to drug thugs in Mexico or anywhere else."

This upsets me.  To bad the words "you handle your sh!t and I will handle mine", can't be politically acceptable because that is what needs to be told to Calderon.  Im sure it could have been said with some "suger" on it but our President lacks the backbone to do so.
