Submitted my testimony: "I oppose this amendment because I believe its intent, purpose, and effect is to make it financially and legally untenable to be NRA instructor, and by chasing out NRA instructors, make it more difficult if not impossible for citizens to acquire firearms lawfully in the state of Hawaii. It is clearly an end run around the right to bear arms and unconstitutional."

I don't have the inclination or knowledge to try to "play" the stock market. Also don't have any money. I do have some retirement savings, so I am much more of a buy and hold guy. I look for stocks in reputable companies with decent dividends. CostCo has been my biggest winner so far. My only loser, and an exception to the dividend rule, has been Ford, thanks in large part to the bailouts of GM and Chrysler.
Anyway, I took the plunge and bought a few shares of Ruger. Hope it pays off in forty years!

I'm not a huge player in the stock market (Gotta have money.), but I was wondering if you own stocks in the companies who manufacture firearms. Any you recommend? During this time, do we buy, hold, or sell?
I did a little research and found a lot of gun companies are privately owned.
Sturm, Ruger & Company (NYSE:RGR) $43.78
Smith & Wesson Holding Corporation (NASDAQ:SWHC) $8.25
FORJA TAURUS-PN N2 (SAO:FJTA4) $2.90
Glock is privately owned.
Freedom Group, Inc (Remington, Marlin, and Bushmaster) is privately owned.

I used to work at a bank, and there are a number of different triggers that require that paperwork be sent to the government. It's been a few years, so I'd have to look up the actual details, but we were trained on "suspicious" activities, like Smurfing (where people make smaller cash deposits to multiple accounts which ultimately funnel into one organization or person's hands), and multiple deposits at one or many branches over a short period of time, etc.
Basically, banking regulation more or less deputized/conscripted bank tellers to be narcs, and large cash transactions were automatically deemed suspicious. We were encouraged to build "relationships" with customers to get to know their regular patterns (esp. small businessmen) so we could spot any irregularities.
