General Discussion / Re: Question regarding airline/firearms
« on: June 14, 2017, 02:50:59 PM »
No, all fine.

Thats how i shipped some on my firearms, as the USPS flat rate may be cheaper than the airlines baggage charge..

Awesome, thanks. I figured it would be fine but wanted some confirmation. I wanted to try and bring as much as I could because it'll probably be a year if not more before I come back and visit the islands again.

General Discussion / Question regarding airline/firearms
« on: June 14, 2017, 02:37:35 PM »
So, its been awhile that i have posted here. I have moved to Wyoming and am visiting my moms place on the Big Island. I am planning on taking some of my guns that I left here back with me to the mainland. The question i have is if it is okay to fly with the lower assemblies in my gun case and ship the barrels seperately. Will I have any hassles regarding this?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Surf,

I have one of the slight extended belt drops from G-code, but I find that it wiggles too much?  Part of me thinks that wearing an appropriately sized belt (i.e. 2" vice 1.75) or even a thicker belt (ares etc.) would fix that.

Are these the types of mounts that you are seeing them switch to?
Interested in the reply, I was looking at maybe getting this as well.

Aloha from Big island. Finally signed up after lurking for a bit. I started a youtube channel a few days back and wanted to share some new gun stuff type videos. Channel name is the same as my username here. Enjoy!  :shaka:

BTW the reason Kona sport authority has none of the popular calibers is that an employee there also works at elite hunters and sets the ammo aside for himself and brings it over there to mark it up. So I buy my ammo elsewhere. I did send a complaint to the customer service at Sports Authority.

Nice to see more Big Island guys on here! :shaka:

Hello to all, I'm really glad I stumbled across this forum. I've been around guns/weapons for numerous years and finally decided to stop procrastinating at get one of my own which in turn; turned into two within two weeks.

The process here in Hawaii is truly "Gun Unfriendly", as I'm sure most of you already know. Anyway, I'm finally on the "down-side" of a ridiculous 14 day wait before I can pick up my  XDm .45acp 4.5" & XD S&W .40SC.

I hope to also see a change in the current Hawai laws pertaining to the ability to carry firearms, just today I lost a fellow Navy vet at the young age of 33 in Chicago due to someone shooting him point blank in the temple while trying to enter his home. I say that to say Chicago has some of the strictest laws in the country & if they're going to disarm their citizens then they need to do a better job of protecting them!
Welcome! :shaka:

Good luck brother! :shaka:

I'm at the beginning stages of planning my move away too. I'd say within the next two to three years, maybe less but I'm trying to save as much as I can between now and then!

General Discussion / Re: The ideal shooting range

My ideal range is having it my back yard, lots of acreage.  You can test your reloads instantly, and shoot and do what ever you want on your private range, whenever you want :shaka:

That is my dream, to one day be able to do this.

No matter how big you are, how strong you are, how well you are trained someone out there will be better than you.... or luckier.  I would not  take that chance. Once being on that shit end of the stick, and im am NOT big, strong, or that well versed in hand to hand, so I would not let that happen to me again.  I was lucky once, maybe not so lucky next time.  Anything can happen, and you might end up dead.

Agreed, through personal experience, as well as many videos etc. that are out there, one punch and people can fall back hit there head and be paralyzed or in a coma. That is why I shake my head when I hear people say fight it out. Being born and raised here in the islands we have a culture of fighting not found many other places on the mainland, however once you grow up you realize you have family, work, life that is much more important than throwing hands to prove who is tougher. It is worse in the mainland because it is almost always never one on one either. I am not willing to risk my life, health or safety nor that of my loved ones. I will be willing to do anything within my power to get safely home, if someone threatens violence I view that as a threat on my life. So many people have this romanticized idea of fighting whether from tv, movies etc. There are many things that can change your life forever from these altercations, just remember that legally, physically, and personally.
