General Discussion / Re: Hi cap Glock mags in a 9mm AR 16" rifle
« on: March 31, 2016, 04:32:15 PM »
Thanks for the info guys... What about a 9mm AR setup that uses the Colt/metalform pattern magazines? I would imagine it'll be similar to an 5.56/.223 in that a 5.56 mag can be used in a pistol system but yet it is still legal here in Hawaii. Any thoughts?

General Discussion / Hi cap Glock mags in a 9mm AR 16" rifle
« on: March 29, 2016, 08:43:37 PM »
Just wanted to know the Hawaii laws on this situation.  I'm interested in building a 9mm AR.  Palmetto has dedicated 9mm lowers that take Glock magazines. Would I be able to legally own a Glock mag with a capacity of more than 10 rounds if I have a 16" 9mm AR?  Thanks!

Oh well... Hawaii gun laws saves me money again.  Thanks for the link.

Here are the laws on "assault pistols".

http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/vol03_ch0121-0200d/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0001.htm

As such the pistol weighs more than 50oz. and has a magazine that attaches outside of the grip.

I'm interested in this "sub machine" gun and had a few questions.  It's imported as a pistol...so being in Hawaii, we CAN own if we keep it to 10 rd. mags? Also, would it be legal to put a sig brace on? I'm not to educated on the handgun/ pistol laws here.  Thanks! :shaka:

General Discussion / AR stripped lower registered as a pistol?

Is it possible to register a stripped AR 15 lower as a pistol/handgun and legally put an upper with a barrel shorter than 16" on it in Hawaii?

THANX FOR THE LINK OLD.  THE TRACER ROUND IS NOT MADE TO PENETRATE OR PIERCE METAL THO.  ITS PURPOSE IS TO ALLOW THE SHOOTER TO SEE WHERE THE PROJECTILE IS GOING (OR AT LEAST THATS WHAT I THINKS IS FOR).  IM NO BALLISTICS EXPERT OR ANYTHING, BUT I WOULD THINK A TRACER ROUND WOULD BE LESS EFFECTIVE IN PENETRATING "ARMOR" THAN A LEGAL FMJ ROUND.

http://www.capitol.hawaii.gov/hrscurrent/Vol03_Ch0121-0200D/HRS0134/HRS_0134-0008.htm

"or any type of ammunition or any projectile component thereof coated with teflon or any other similar coating designed primarily to enhance its capability to penetrate metal or pierce protective armor; and any type of ammunition or any projectile component thereof designed or intended to explode or segment upon impact with its target."

Tracer rounds have phosphorus tips right?

I will try and dig up a link at home.  The work computer blocks bad stuff.

Anywhooo......instead of the projectile burning hot, this thing glows.  I'm not sure what the chemical reaction is, but supposedly you can even shoot indoors.  Been trying to see how I can get my hands on some.

Nice. Never heard of it. i too, will be looking for these things.  DO you know what the penalty in Hawaii is for possessing or shooting a HOT tracer round.  I tried doing a little research, but cant come to any conclusion in writing that tracers are illegal.  Does anyone have a link to this info?

Howzit all.

I have recently been offered in a trade a Walther PPQ classic 9mm.  The person states that this gun is worth 1-1.1k.  Online it retails for about $600.  Is this guy full of s@#t or is he reasonable.  I don't know the rarity or availablity of the gun so I don't know the value. Any insight on the value of this piece would be greatly appreciated. For condition purposes, lete say its in great condition.

Mahaloz!

How do you go about sending a rifle leagally from Hawaii to the mainland?  I know I have to send to a ffl. On our "transfer of firearms" form, do I put the buyers info or the ffl dealers info. Also, I there an easy way to make sure the ffl is legit? Mahaloz in advance.

Thanks for the info. Im on the big island and the local shops here have .223 for over $1 per round. Maybe ordering online with the steep shipping might be worth it.  :worship:

Sorry if this has been discussed before.  I know here in Hawaii, we are not allowed to buy ammo online but is it legal to have a private party send you ammo from the mainland?  For example, if my brother who lives in Vegas has some ammo, can he just throw it in a box and send it to me via UPS?

Mahaloz for da info!
