Man, I want to, but I can't afford it.  I could eat cat food, but I can't afford the following hospitalization for malnutrition.  I could sell my car, but then I couldn't get there.  I could sell my gun, but then, what would be the point.  I could... (Continues on for a while.)

Love those Schofield revolvers, if only there was a modern break front design, I'd be all over it.

I'm pretty sure Scholfields can take modern ammunition (oops).  If you can afford it, why not go for what you love?

Edit: By modern, I mean they came in cartridges.  Actually, I was totally wrong and the gun takes black powder.  But it looks awesome to shoot.

Reminds me of a discussion on Charlie Prince's butt-forward holsters on the 2007 version of "3:10 to Yuma".  He not only had to draw across his gut, but also sweep the entire crowd around him every time he drew.

Colt Python 6" barrel in Royal Blue finish.  Because:

1) It's impractical, but the dude from Walking Dead has clearly shown you can survive in a zombie apocalypse with it.
2) You're enemies will drool all over their own firearms, thus disabling them.
3) You can use it as a cudgel when you run out of bullets.
4) Just cuz.
5) It's sorta black, which makes it all ninja tactical and far more deadly.
6) It makes a loud bang which, like Biden's shotgun, will scare away any criminal.

Edit: Sure, as long if its not when I'm working, I might come.

If not, I would be totally down for a meeting of all of the gun people on the Big Island.

Probably have to be on the weekend. Locals being what we are, I think having something formal would be impractical.  Probably need some rules, like "if you come, you can only drink if you contribute," and "wear more than a speedo".

General Discussion / Re: Sale prices on guns and ammo
« on: May 02, 2013, 06:17:24 AM »
I know it's sort of a weird outlook on the situation, but I see the temporary high prices as a good sign.

Those new gun owners that are trying to sell will have to take a good hard look at any gun control laws when they can't sell their firearms at anything but a loss.

The longer this hike in prices lasts, the more people who just can't sell will decide to keep their guns.  If they do sell at an inflated price, it will be to someone not in the know, like a still panicking new gun buyer.

So now the number of gun owners has swelled.  Inflated prices are annoying, but good for the cause.

Off Topic / Firearm Friendly Land Lords

Hey, so I'm moving to Kona (on the Big Island), and I was wondering if anyone here is renting out a <insert housing type>.  I thought this might be a great place to start a thread where land lords can announce they have a place for tenants who don't want to hide their guns.

Hey, should I go with the flat dark earth, or the black version?  I'm a bit torn.  I would like to see if I could hunt with it, and don't know if the coloration matters much.

To put it into perspective for you, some sold for $4, 000.00 on GB when they were first released.

Now there are about 25 currently on GB, ranging between $1850.00 to $2700.00.

If the $2000.00 price point suits you, buy the rifle.

If not, wait for the price to drop.

Either way, best of luck!

 :shaka:

$4,000!  Point taken.  So ~$2,000 is probably the normal price for this decade.  I guess I'll go get one when my permit clears.  Thanks for the info!

MSRP is $1999.00.

That is true, but it came out during the gun panic, so I'm wondering if it was priced for the disaster, or if it was the only normal priced gun at that point.
12
Is $2'000 an inflated price for the Tavor?  Should I wait a while for prices to deflate?
13
If I recall correctly, OGC brought in two or three Tavors already, including an IDF model.

Unfortunately, I live on the Big Island, so OGC might be a little difficult.  Any suggestions?

Looking to buy a Tavor after I get my permit.  Probably take forever to arrive, given the current supply situation.  I don't mind, still need my safety course anyway before ill be willing to fire the gun.  If everything works out, my tax refund will be giving me a little more "bang" then it used to.

Hey, Hi, Aloha and Konichiwa,

I'm totally new to guns and 2nd Amendment rights support.  Until recently, I would have agreed with gun control nuts, always a Lib most of my life.

But then the AWB Ban attempt went down, and I started to research the 2nd Amendment.  For those who have never been a part of the anti-rights crowd, the argument against private ownership is posed as "militia means a private army by the state, so individuals should not have guns."

What I found however, was that the Second Amendment was referring to the collective citizenry of America as the "Militia" and that it was the duty of every American to act as part of the check and balance against the standing army of the country, and any tyrant that might control it.

I'm still liberal on most social issues, but on the Second Amendment, you have my full support.

If you guys and gals need some help in putting together written messages for the cause, you can call on me.

Unlike in firearm operation, I have some training in writing and rhetoric.  I'm working on that first item at the moment.

Regards,

KnifeObsessions357.
