Reloading 9mm
« on: August 28, 2013, 07:02:31 PM »
I'm going to reload 9mm 124gr FMJ and I'm looking at Accurate #5 powder.  Anyone like this powder or use something else with good results?  What does everyone like to use and whats available locally?

for powder it's whatever you can find at this point.... get the faster burning powder which uses less per case...

I went through the same thing a few months back.... some guy bought the entire stock of unique at SEC... gotta be fast or the hoarders will get all the powder....

but again it's all personal preference...

I've used HS6, unique, bullseye, power pistol and wsf.    I like power pistol for jacketed  bullets.   Imho,  wsf works really well for lead.   Unique and HS6 did not meter well for me.   I've used bullseye in 9mm, 45 acp, 40 and 38 special with good results.   Loads were on the lighter side.

I like aa#5, i use it for my 9mm and .40 loads.   It feels softer to shoot than Titegroup (good powder too!)

For 9mm I have used:
ww231
hp38
unique
hs6
540
Bullseye
herco
blue dot

My friend uses Titegroup with nice results.
You can't go wrong with any of the fast burning powders for light to medium power ammo with a 124 gr head.
Now days, it is availability that governs your choice.

I use Universal on .32 ACP, .38 spl, 9 mm and .45 ACP. Haven't had the chance to compare it to any other.
