Mag Limit while hunting
« on: September 24, 2013, 10:39:31 AM »
There's was mention of a mag limit in a prior post and there's mention of a mag limit while hunting in the classifieds, did a search and didn't find anything so I thought I'd ask:

Is there a magazine or number of loaded rounds while hunting limit in Hawaii ?
Does it differ by county ?

And can anyone provide the HRS or County ordinance cites?

I couldn't find anything abount mag/round limits in my search of the State hunting Regs.

I think there's a federal law regarding birds and migratory birds.

Thanks.  :shaka:

I got this from my cousin who is with the DLNR.

The only mag restriction in Hawaii is when hunting Morning Doves 3 Round Limit.

Also the If youre using a Rifle that uses pistol mags then it must be 10 rounds.

So you can hunt with a 100 round drum if you want.  But he siad you may get funny looks if ever get
questioned by an Officer!!!

There is also no round limit.  He said that is only for the range and many people get confused.

Thanks Dex !  :shaka:

I knew there was something with the birds.
That's why I kept the dowel that came with my shotgun.

I was told by my neighbor who is a DLNR officer that the maximum is 10 rounds.  I only have 20 rnd P-Mags (7.62 x 51) so I just load it with 10.  But if anyone have the new 10 rnd P-Mags and would like to trade for brand new 20 rounders, let me know.  I have 4 brand new ones.

What I was told is there is no round limit BuT if they see you and ask
They will ask more questions if you have mags over 10 rounds.  And then like HPD
It is thier interpretation of the law.  So make sure you know the laws!!!

Magpul makes mag limiters for their mags.

Thanks Kingkeoni... For aesthetic reasons, I think the shorter mag may look better, also it will probally not get in the way as much.  Don't care for the metal type.

The dnlr education officer I talked to last weekend said there is no round limit for mag size, but did mention that it would be favorable to see a smaller sized mag in  the rifle for PC reasons...
