Anybody like or use Winchester 231 for reloading 9mm. I am able to get some but wanna check with the gang first. Remember, I am a noobie reloader.

W231 is a good pistol powder. I use it for 9mm, 38 special, and .45.

Still breaking in my HK45.  Spring is still stiff.  Slide will not go fully back at last round at Win 231 5.4 gr. Montana Gold 230 CMJ. OAL 1.23 and crimp .465  I made some 5.6 grain and unable to test it yet.  I think Max is 5.7

Yah 5.7 grains is max list when I loaded my 230 hornady xtp at 5.7 gr I was getting an average of 833 fps out of my 5" 1911 but I didn't have any pressure signs
If 5.7 is not enough to function your gun u might need to get another slower burning powder like wsf.unique is another powder u might want to try as well

Coincidentally, I just ran 125 rounds of 230 gr Precision Delta FMJ Ball through an HK USP-Compact TODAY at the range.
The powder charge was 5.7 gr WW231. Ejection was brisk and function was 100% normal.
WW231 is the powder I have been running in my 45 autos for over 30 years.
Hogdon HP38 is the same product-different name.

One of my best loads is a 9mm-124 gr. JHP with 4.8 gr. WW231/HP38
See the details in my thread on the XTP Project.
What, Me Worry?

Old Fart, Thanks for the advice.   I tested (20) 45acp with W231 with powder charge 5.6 and (20) with 5.7.  I double tap, reload, and rapid fire.
Both work flawless with zero problem with the HK45.  :worship:
