I picked up an FNP40 from OGC a few years back at a great price and fell in love with the trigger and accuracy... but the mag catch and somewhat slick frame were killing the high for me. FN fixed this with their FNX line, but I had pretty much all but made my Glock my primary .40 gun. Well, I'm in Security yesterday and holding an FNX, in awe of how easily the mag drops, when it occurs to me that nobody is likely to buy my FNP... so I'd might as well mod it. Drank a big cup of coffee around midnight and tweaked for two hours like a crackhead, but I got it done in time to shoot later today. The FNP comes with this thumb rest like Hi-Powers and old CZ75 grips have, and that ridge is what kept the mag release from being depressed easily. Shaved that down and stipled everything else. I lost the FN logo in the process, but the gun feels even better to hold now. I could deliver a baby and then pick this gun up with placenta on my hands and not drop it. Gonna shoot it a bit then DuraCoat the frame in FDE because, well, It cuts down the IR signature, right?    If anyone wants to try this, the plastic for the backstrap melts faster than the frame, keep that in mind and plan accordingly...
