If Koko head was closed or just to darn far to drive, can we legally TARGET  shoot on State land?

With a State issued Hunting Card, technically I can shoot on State land without any restrictions.

You know like back in the days , just go into the pineapple fields and just shoot. shhhhhh

and yet it is still legal to do and the only way most of us are able to shoot over 100 yards.     I never bought a .338 lapua just to shoot at targets only 100 yards away!!!

Well, I know you can shoot on agricultural land. That may not be much of a help.  You can also shoot on BLM land (federal), but not in NPS land, at least you can where I am now.

I think it may be possible, but all hunting regs apply. 

YES I can see some people walking in to the woods and blasting rounds but remember there are others in the area as well. There are only a handful of places on Oahu that will allow hunting with rifles.  Most of the time we share the space with hikers and if one of them get shot or a fellow hunter this is bad...very bad news for hunting in Hawaii.  So before anyone is thinking about doing this please reconsider.

well obviously you are suppose to know what's beyond the target and be shooting into some kinda backstop.  who the hell is just shooting into the forest randomly?

 Hawaii Kai is mostly private land owned by Bishop Estate. and the hills surrounding it is State. (zoned C)

Mokuleia seems like a nice spot to shot.
it even has a camp site and picnic tables
according to DLNR web site.

Yes pig is year round but hunting with guns is only allowed in certain zones.  There is a spot by Hawaii Kai that I see lots of hikers out there on the weekend.  Dude if you want to target shoot go to the range don't go into the forest and start blasting round at what you think might be a pig.  Just dangerous & someone might shoot back.

I fired my first 22 in the woods of Aiea heights at a little range my Dad set up just off a utility road in full sight of the houses across the gulch.
The rifle was longer than I was tall.
Shot there as recently as the mid '60s.
Somehow though I think to do that now almost any place in the outback, would get you a room at the Crossbar Hilton.
It is not the same world.
