16 YO sells stolen gun to a 14 YO.

As my usual drive home in traffic I was listening to Mike Buck's afternoon show.  He made a disturbing comment that went something like, 'the owner of the gun is at fault for not keeping it in a safe place', or something to that effect.  This statement disturbed and angered me.  I wrote him a letter to inform him of my problems with his statement.

Mike,

I am in strong disagreement with your statement that it is the gun owners fault his or her property was stolen.
I am offended you made such a statement, and so should other law abiding gun owners that take the responsibility to protect themselves and their families from the growing threat of violent crime that seems to be running rampant in this day and age. Recently a home was invaded, and the occupants held at gun point by the criminals. Thank God that no one was seriously hurt or killed in this incident.

Sir, is it the property owners fault if someone breaks into their domicile and steals their television or computer?  Should those items be chained up or in a safe when not in use?  You may say that firearms are different some how, they are weapons. I say no. Firearms are tools, and with any tool, it's uses depends on the individual that is in control of thus object. Chain saws, machetes, a kids baseball bat, if a burglar steals such items, would you hold the lawful owner accountable when such 'tools' are used in crime?  I don't think so. How about automobiles? Is the owner of a stolen car some how at fault when the thief rams the car into unsuspecting pedestrians and police officers?

Thus sir, I beg you to retract your statement. Your statement puts all law abiding gun owners at risk, and at the whim of our lacking, knee jerking, no thinking, legislature.

Thank you very much.

Kind Regards,

It is dumbfounding that someone who throws out to be conservative, has such liberal ideas. (liberalism is a mental disorder, you know)  :P

:-\ It is no wonder why our state is in the shape that we are in.

I find Mike Buck to be pretty liberal as well; I already know he doesn't support concealed carry -- he also said he doesn't believe that Hawaii's crime rates are worse then other cities.

Try an analogy to cars - are you required by law to report your car stolen? How many deaths and injuries are caused by stolen cars? If an owner fails to report a car stolen (maybe he's out of town, has multiple cars, normally uses public transportation but keeps a car in the garage....) and the criminal injures or kills someone, is the owner responsible?
Sometimes someone will add something to soften the penalaties for the owner a little by using something like "reasonably knew or should have known" it was stolen. But what's "reasonable" to one might be unreasonable to another.

in the PBS televised show, Keith Kaneshiro's argument was that if we (law-abiding) citizens buy more guns the bad guys will get ahold of them anyways.  I find their reasoning disturbing as if they given up to the criminals.  All very valid points, but thanks to the herders of the sheep, the sheep have turned to their herders' words as gospel.

They always say uneducated and unexperienced opinions. If "Mr. Kieth Kaneshiro" ever gets held up at gun point, whats he gonna yell out? "No! You armed citizen, put your gun away. Someone call the police and wait for them to arrive.." Or how's this?
"No! You perpetartor, put down your gun and turn yourself in.." Or maybe Kieth Kaneshiro wants us to just HUG the bad Dinosaur..
