I've been luckier with USPS than the other shippers to Hawaii (mostly with the way packages arrive). I hope it all works out. That reminds me though, I need to order an AK pistol grip.

For the past 2 or 3 years I've actually been having really good service with USPS. I'm quite happy with them right now lol.

*edit*

Sorry you're having trouble with them. Hope things turn around for you!

That's what I was thinking...haha...The website said only Hawaii orders will not be shipped by FEDEX only USPS, so I thought "No Problems" because I never had a mishap with USPS...Not to worry though, Sista, Braddah, Unco and Aunty said they're "Looking into it"  :'(

USPS has the best deals on shippIng to Hawaii. UPS/FedEx is a ripoff when it comes to Hawaii shipping, they charge you an arm and a leg for 2nd day air for even the smallest of packages.  (which does not come in 2 days BTW)
All carriers will have good and bad.

I recently purchased a scope from the ML, insured and tracked through USPS.
Anyway, the box had a huge gash in it, and upon inspection of the scope, the sunshade looked to have jumped some threads.  :(
So I went back to the PO to inquire about the claim. Long story short, there are so many hoops to jump through, I decided to remove the sunshade and run the scope as is. (I wasn't goin to use the sun shade anyway)

Well the point to all this is that even though USPS isn't the greatest, I'd still rather ship through them than FEDUPS any day.

Agreed. Something that is shipping for $15 USPS is $30 - $45 using UPS or FEDEX.

I've had this happen a lot! Some mail carriers pre-scan items during the sort/load process to save time...it lets them deliver faster, but does nothing for you if they misdeliver a package and basically you're screwed. If your regular mail delivery time is not around 11am, that's what likely happened. All you can do is make enough noise that they postmaster takes notice and the carriers on your route will do it the right way.

Standard answer from the USPS is: "Delivery confirmation is not tracking. It only confirms delivery."  Technically, the only time they are required to scan is when it is being delivered or left at your door. If you want something you can track, you need to choose registered mail.

"If it fits, it ships" - People in HI probably have them regretting that deal. I sure as hell make everything fit!  And I've never had anything take more than 3 days via Priority Mail.  :)

You should definitely file a claim for the damage on the scope. I had an Eotech returned from service with the box looking as if the Samsonite gorilla got at it. Filled out the insurance forms online and had it denied (standard procedure). Followed up with pictures of the box and cracked battery cap.  The sent me a check for the insured value the following week.

if at all possible, i always request my packages have "signature confirmation"  That is probably the safest bet.  That way, they will not leave it at your doorstep for it to get stolen by someone and IF they were to deliver it to the wrong address, most of the time the person will say they are not you.
