Armoring a stock vehicle.

Hello all,

I was wondering if any of you folks have thought about armoring a stock car or truck?
Long story short, after my wife and I finished a movie on Netflix, it was showing recommended videos and one of those videos went on about how armored cars are made.
This got me thinking that this is a fucking awesome idea but I am sure that this could be done for a lot cheaper by putting Kevlar in the door panels and reinforcing the glass but I find the glass to be the most difficult.
Anyway, what are your thoughts folks?

if fuel is not a problem , then go for it

1/2 ar500 steel will stop rounds up to 7.62.

window requires 1.5 inches laminated panels.

all this will add about 3000lbs to your vehicle and drive like a brick. nevermind going more than 65mph.

plus without a convoy you are a sitting duck. one road block trap and whomever it is that's shooting at you will set it on fire or peel it like a spam can.
If you dissolve your enemies in acid, technically that's turning your problems into a solution.

I was thinking about Clint Eastwood up-armoring that city bus in The Gauntlet.

Also, Mike and Fi make a bulletproof car in an episode of Burn Notice by stuffing phone books into the door panels.  They're a little bit vague on the subject of the glass, though...
The difference between theory and reality is that, in theory, there is no difference between theory and reality.

As others have mentioned the modifications will be heavy and costly.  Plus we live on an island, where you gonna go?

Just my opinion but the biggest barrier we have to whatever SHTF scenario you want to play out is the Pacific Ocean.  Hawaii's remoteness compared to the rest of the world is probably it's best defense but if it does get here, it will be the biggest liability.

Be prepared to rebuild the entire vehicle. Upgrade engine, suspension, tires, add fire suppression, air filters, etc etc..
