I received this model 19 from my father. It has a set screw on the trigger. Can anyone tell me about it? Thanks.

Overtravel adjustment.  It's not unique to this gun or type.  Many semi-auto triggers have these, too.

Let's you adjust the overtravel, so the trigger doesn't continue to move far beyond the firing position.
