That sucks to hear the owner died. 

I honestly have no clue or insight into the criminal mind.  Of all the stores in the area to rob, why chose the store with a high probability the store employees are armed and have easy access to more firearms and ammo?

I bet the thieves thought the store was an easy target. Underestimating the owners.

Im glad some LGS open carry in the store.  I feel like that is safer, give bad guys a pause. Others that don't open carry, I certainly hope that they conceal or have something readily available.  Sad the guy died, but he did a service to the community,  taking out the trash.  Hero in my opinion.
