What are the essentials that you have in your first aid kits? Where do you typically get the items to start and maintain stock of your first aid kits?
This year I put together a group type 1st aid kit. Took me a few months to get everything together. People normally like medvet for online. I bought my supplies at Longs, Walgreens, Costco, Walmart, ebay and Amazon. Tried to get the longest shelf life for OTC meds which is why I shopped at lots of different stores. Another good place is the UH bookstore which has a nursing section. Good time to check if they resupplied is later this month or early August before the fall term. They stock nitrile gloves for a real good price, scissors, little instrument kits, dilation penlights and other items. Also no tax.
My ifaks on belts include scissors, TQ, compression bandage, alcohol pads, sterile dressings/pads. My range bag has a regular Walmart 1st aid booboo kit. The group kit consists of a Propper Intl. range bag for the main stuff and an attached side pouch for booboos /minor wounds The front has another attached pouch which contains items to control heavy blood loss and the TQ is tucked under the outside handle. Also attached a light and a cheap Casio watch with stopwatch feature on the outside of the bag.
I use a tool box for the OTC meds and will use a medium size cooer for the alcohol, H2 peroxide, saline washes, Pedialyte etc. Unfortunately all the preps can't fit in just one container. The only uncommon items are chest seals, Celox, TQs, nasopharyngeal tubes and Israeli bandages.
Later might get a few more items but the kit is about complete. Maybe others can give suggestions of other essentials. Trying to download some vids and pamphlets on med care to flashdrives for a laptop and or tablet. Also on the lookout for good general 1st aid books.
