So she tried to run over an elderly lady and is found not guilty? Who else could have been behind the wheel.

The judge declared her a danger to society and remanded her to the custody of the state mental hospital.

Sometimes being committed to a mental institution can be worse than prison.  Possible she could be kept there for life.
