I'd like them to answer one simple question:  Why did they not plan for the disposition of the S&W pistols BEFORE committing to purchasing the Glock replacements?  They could have negotiated for a credit from Glock, just like the Department of Safety received a credit for their S&Ws from Sig Sauer.

This is an example of poor planning and inattention to the replacement process.  Someone in HPD wasted over half a million of tax payer dollars because they didn't do their job!!

Have you replied to his BS reasoning? It is all political BS based entirely on the Democrats desire to rule and the ambitions and aspirations of dominating superiority their ilk attracts.

Got a BS response from the chief below is my reply.

Aloha,

Although your response gives reasons for the destruction of these guns, the reasoning given for not selling them to the general public is certainly derived nonsense.

Hawaii's gun laws do not arbitrarily allow "guns on the streets". The guns would end up in the hands of law abiding citizens; people that have passed through the qualifications and background checks necessary for handgun ownership. You, as well as I, know that those guns would be kept at home or a place of business unless going to and from a range.

The guns could also have been sold to a mainland high volume dealer bringing in much needed revenues to the City and County.
In this day and age it is absolutely ridiculous to waste 1/2 million dollars of tax payers money for political correctness or ambition.

Yes, political correctness or political ambition, as the facts do not add up.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Kealoha

This was an outrageous waste of our hard earned tax payer money.

The only thing worst than wasting our money is the insulting insinuation that these guns may
"end up on the streets of Honolulu".
Did you think criminals were going to acquire these 2,300 guns and rampage Honolulu ?

With  Hawaii's strict firearm laws, if you followed your own rules, only law abiding citizens would have been able to purchase them.
But you did not even trust your own officers to purchase these firearms!
The very firearms they have been carrying for years.

The half million dollars could have helped our county in so many way's.
Homelessness, education, infrastructure, police training and dare I even say, the lose money rail project.

Now this news has traveled through out the nation and Hawaii looks inept and wasteful (and was timed perfectly with the plethora of sewage spills making the news).

This will be the legacy you and our mayor have bestowed upon us, and for this you shall be remembered.

    Regards,
“I ask you to judge me by the enemies I have made.”

Ya know, I just thought of something...
This edict to destroy guns and the caravan carrying the guns to the "recycling" plant looks and sounds like something Hitler might have done in ww2.
