An interesting survey,

For once a well laid out survey about guns in America, Conducted for CBS. The main question being do people thing gun violence will increase in the next 10 years, I am alarmed to see that most people said YES, as we have been on a downward trend for the last 10.
A lot of the results are what i expected (EG. 57% of republicans have a gun in their household where as only 26% of democrats do).

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/cbs-news-poll-will-gun-violence-increase-in-the-next-decade/

"This poll was conducted by telephone March 2-6, 2016 among a random sample of 1,019 adults nationwide, including 399 respondents who live in a household that owns at least one gun or firearm. Data collection was conducted on behalf of CBS News by SSRS of Media, Pa. Phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard land-line and cell phones.

The poll employed a random digit dial methodology. For the landline sample, a respondent was randomly selected from all adults in the household. For the cell sample, interviews were conducted with the person who answered the phone.

Interesting but what they THINK does not necessarily reflect reality.

This psychological bias has been proven many times in many experiments and studies.

1. Those same (random sample) people when polled also think the rate of violent crime has gone up in the past 20 years when in fact it has gone down by 50%.

2. Anyone who would tell a stranger on the phone "Yes, there are guns in my household (come steal them when I'm not home) or "No, there are no guns in my houselhold (come rob/assault/rape me anytime), is a moron.

3. This "poll" is useless, except to reiterate that there are a LOT of stupid people.
