Glock 17 is illegal ?????
« on: July 13, 2016, 06:28:10 PM »
Ok so I was talking to a friend about assault pistols and how bulshit the law is, it was at this point we realized that if you have a threaded barrel on your Glock 17 could it be considered illegal to own as it becomes an assault pistol, (it's a semi automatic version of a full auto gun<G18>)

Negative.

The Glock 17 was Gaston Glock's 17th patent.
It was designed as a semi automatic firearm.

The Glock 18 was made AFTER the Glock 17. It operates on a different operating system.

A Glock 17 with a threaded barrel is still a semi automatic pistol, as was originally designed.

Seems like only gunowners worried about laws, while the "ruling class"  play their games and laugh at the wittle peepo scurrying about trying to obey laws.

I think you need to have this and the HRS etched into the frame for when HPD stops you.

Just curious, but what part(s) of the HRS led you to believe that swapping out a standard barrel for a threaded barrel on a Glock 17 made it become classified as an assault pistol?  I believe most Glock 18s are without threaded barrels.

2 evil features
I see.

Quote
(1) An ammunition magazine which attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;

(2) A threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward hand grip, or silencer;

(3) A shroud which is attached to or partially or completely encircles the barrel and which permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the second hand without being burned;

(4) A manufactured weight of fifty ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded;

(5) A centerfire pistol with an overall length of twelve inches or more; or

(6) It is a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm;

That if the 17 is a semi version of the 18 (which noted it isn't), that the 17 would meet two of the "evil" features.

Haven't really looked into anything close to meeting those criteria, so it's been a while since I've read the definition.  I don't have a threaded barrel on my 17s, but I've seen them around here and there.  To me, until suppressors are legalized here, no interest.
