Izhmash IZ132C AK-47

Earlier this year, I bought an Izhmash IZ132C from pit808.

Its a nice converted Saiga AK-47 type rifle.

It fires the inexpensive and popular 7.62x39 round.

The rifle worked flawlessly since the day I bought it but I still felt the need to do some "upgrades".

Here are some before and after pictures.

The first 4 pics are the rifle before I made any changes.

The 5th picture is a picture of the rifle in its new configuration.

The 6th pic shows the new stock. I used a VLTOR tube. (mil spec) I mounted a Magpul ACS to that. I also put a quick detach swivel on.

The 7th pic shows the Ultimak rail that I attached. I then mounted a Primary Arms Micro red dot to it.
The lower rail is from K-Var and I used an adapter that I bought from Saiga-ak.com..

The 8th and 9th pics show the new Krebs custom safety switch I installed.
Notice that it holds the bolt open.

I absolutely love the changes I've made. It seems to me that they make an already useful rifle, even better.

Sweet! I like the KREBS bolt hold open safety... I was about to tell you that you were supposed to put this in the classifed section....so I can buy it.... ;)

Nice set-up

If you don't mind, how much do you have into your AK with all your upgrades?

An AK is the next purchase and I'm trying to plan out some costs.

Thanks.

Too much, haha.

AK.                 $500
 Ultimak         $85
Vltor RE47.   $80
Lower hg.      $35
Magpul ACS $125

Red dot I already had as well as the QD swivel. It came with the Hogue grip.
I also didn't need to choose the most expensive tube and stock made.
CAA makes a less expensive aluminum tube and a polymer one is only $30.
Magpul also makes much expensive stocks.
The Ultimak on the other hand is money well spent. It allows you to "co-witness" with your iron sights and a red dot.
The lower handguard is from a different gun and the metal adapter is what cost money.

i know right?  but still, some of those calibers have more than 1 gun attached to them. especially 7.62x39!
