I wonder how liberal commanding officers will be in allowing CCW?

"Effective Nov. 18, the directive culminates years of work, Davis said.

The effort began after the 2009 shooting at Fort Hood in Texas..."

This only took them 7 years to implement.  They are way ahead of Hawaii.

It's about time.  I'm thinking most commander's won't allow it.  Only a few base commanders allow CCW (off duty) on military installations, out of the hundreds of bases that are out there.

But it could still prevent tragedies in that the criminals will have to guess if they are armed or not.

I can say from experience that they are very liberal in registering personal weapons
I'm sure if there was a policy that gave them authority to seize all personal weapons they would implement it within the hour.
I'm being cynical.
