Yeah i have an adjustable temp one that has a hole bunch of heads to it. Trying it out on Pmags because there cheap

Using Pmags makes great sense, plus the areas are sectioned off. That must help to keep the stipling contained.  Might have to give it a try.  Do you use a lower temp setting vs higher?

I did mine with similar results but it was only a single setting soldering iron. Just gotta make sure you keep the iron moving.

Hotter is better from what i can tell. $12 and you get a bunch of surface area to practice on.

From personal experience, I took a single temp soldering iron to my things.  The feel when you stipple a M3 PMAG is very close to the M&P 9 frame.  I practiced on an airsoft M&P and that cheap chinese plastic melted like butter and smoked a lot. 

I have no idea how the pro's do such a nice job.  I'm pretty sure they aren't using cheap soldering irons like me tho...  Despite a couple hours of practice its still came out ugly but, at least it works and I didn't screw anything up.
