I have the fat version and I like them.
Reading the reviews, it looks like this slim version has less passive noise reduction which would be bad for indoor ranges.
On the other hand, this slim version works better when rifle shooting.

So perhaps the hot setup would be plugs+muffs if indoors and just muffs outdoors.

That is what I do. The slim model works pretty good but like anything else it is not perfect. I have had mine for about 4 years now and they are falling apart. But they still work fine. The battery cover won't stay on any more but the batteries stay in and have never fallen out. The plastic covering for the wires has cracked and the wires (with insulation intact) are now exposed. The foam in the pads needs to be replaced. The electronics keep working and the battery life is amazing. At this price I should probably replace them.

On mine, the headband part is coming apart. But muffinman showed me a nice Velcro cover just made for that problem.

Had these for a couple years but didn't  think they worked very well, Rockette wouldn't use them.
We both opted to wear our non electronic's instead (except when I taught class, I'd wear the Leighs)

This year the Leigh earmuffs literally deteriorated in my range bag. Nothing happened to same muffs in bag.
Needed electronic so we opted for the Caldwell Version. (WGS)
Work well, Rockette likes them

Can be hit or miss with Amazon.  I was looking at some lights that come with CR123 lithium batteries.  Some would ship to HI and others wouldn't.
