Saw this on the news last night and while being interviewed, she was holding her pepper spray.  Which brings me to the argument, that most people buy defensive items only after the fact.  Why not before and be ready? 

I try to drill this into my wife's thought pattern.

This was messed up...  and becoming a more frequent occurrence.   When will people in Hawaii wake up?

Pepper spray should work real good on someone on drugs. 

There's a good chance it won't work on someone on drugs.

Pepper spray is a good thing to have, but you can't rely on it because there are a lot of downsides to it.  Some people are immune.  If someone was sprayed before, they'll be more resistant to it in the future.  Pepper spray stops people because it causes pain...crazy people, those on drugs, and people enraged on adrenaline don't feel pain.  It's easy to defend against pepper spray, just shield your face with your arms.  Pepper spray can blow back into your face.

Overall, I'd say it's 70 percent effective.  Should be fit and learn hand to hand techniques for situations when it fails.

Like the woman I spoke to the other day in Tulsi's office: "They could carry a baseball bat. Or take a dog with them." Does anyone think she does that? Of course not. She's betting on the odds that she won't be the woman who gets assaulted/raped/robbed/murdered. Everyone is free to bet however they want. As far as I'm concerned I believe it is literally a crime that Hawaii criminalizes carrying the best tool for self-defense. I don't understand why, when people see other innocent people victimized, some of whom may have chosen the most efficient tool for self-protection had they not faced prison time for doing so, are not outraged. Well, I do, but...

if you see that park at night, tweekers and other riff raff roam that park like rats.  its crawling with weirdos all over the place.

We should form a CSAG and go clean it and other parks like it up

I meant that as a joke.  Should have put some emoji on it.  A sap or blackjack is effective on anyone, unfortunately it is also illegal.
