Get a call from my doctors office and they tell me they need me to come in and see the doctor since his son has now taken over his practice before he signs the papers.

Question isn't that medical stuff just a history report (Hawaii peeps?) Weird that they wanna see me but I told them I'm going in to pickup my permit his Thursday so they need to figure it out cause I can't make the doctors I work tomorrow and Wednesday.  Thoughts?

If he doesnt respond to hpd, ur all good. He is probably new to the system and wants to cover himself.

I also thought the letter was good forever.  All the doctor needs to do after the letter is respond to the standard "do you know of any reason to deny him guns" request, as you said.  Maybe the son is confusing the current request with needing to write another letter?  You might want to clarify that the father's letter is still good.

If I'm not mistaken, I think I read from another's story HPD gives you extra time to get the doctor's letter done before they make a decision.  Check with HPD firearms section, and get that deadline.  Hopefully that's sufficient to work an office visit into your schedule if you have to.

As for the doctor, if he insists you need to come in, the only alternative is go somewhere else -- which means you'll have an office visit with the new doctor anyway.  Might have to suck it up and do what they ask, assuming you can't convince them the original letter is good, and all HPD needs now is a yes or no response.

Ignore the Doc, If he does nothing its all good at HPD.

If he (Dr) sends in the Paperwork, it means a yes and disqualifies you for the permit.

Having Health Care (not a Dr)  is required by Tax codes not law and only carries a fine to the IRS.

That would be okay if you hadn't already named the doctor on the application.   Not sure HPD will allow corrections to the medical forms you already signed.

Never had one for the past 20 years nor want one nor need one.  In case of Emergencies all ER are required  admittance  ; regrades of insurance coverage or ability to pay.

It's worth trying.  Tell them, when you filled out the form, you put down the doctor who saw you once for the letter, and that he's retired and was never your primary doctor.

If you have insurance or an HMO, you should avoid lying if you have a primary care physician there.  If you're covered at work, your work's insurance provider should be getting the HPD requests for permit review anyway.

If you have no healthcare or doctor you call regularly when you need to be seen, like Kaiser, then you can say "none."  Just don't lie.  That's a crime.

Be careful.if he denies you for any reason..you will be flagged & required to get a clearance letter every year for renewal of permit.other than suing your doctor & hpd there is no way to reverse it.

Like my Lawyer says , " Admit nothing, Deny everything"
