Long gun purchase for 18-20 year olds

Was discussing firearms ownership with a person from the Friends of the NRA.  An 18 year old HS graduate wanted to compete in the Olympics but wasn't able to do so because they could not own a rifle.  Hawaii law says you have to be 18 yrs old to own a rifle, but 21 to purchase or have one transferred to you.

I thought a way around this was to order a rifle from the manufacturer and have it sent to an FFL in Las Vegas, NV (or other state where non-residents can purchase).  Person flys up to Las Vegas and picks up the rifle, making them the owner.  They then come home and register it with the police.

Sound doable?

Or does the Marine Corps Exchange gun store require a Hawaii permit to purchase?

Sounds doable.  As long as the other state doesn't restrict purchases to 21 like Hawaii, you're good.
