^^^This and I think there was an older post about it also.  If I recall, someone got a letter from the ATF saying it's not a shotgun.  They wanted a letter from HPD saying so also before they buy one and having to register it, then get it confiscated or arrested.  But HPD refused to issue a letter saying it's not a shotgun.

but I bet they can identify all kinds of mailboxes by now

Yeah . They were so corrupt and arrogant that the  mailbox model was part of their downfall.

that's the difference between us and texas.  in texas, i read the governor enacted legislation clarifying that it's legal.  in hawaii, you get stonewalling and bullshit, and probably a law explicitly declaring it illegal.
