The "Cops are Trained, You're Not...No CCW for You!" Argument (Read 1617 times)

One of the arguments (among several false ones) put forward by the Wild-West-shootout-scenario-claiming civilian disarmament advocates is that the agents of the state (aka "cops") that bear firearms in public are "trained", and ordinary civilians are "not", so the civs are justifiably denied the right to bear arms in public for self-defense because they are too "dangerous".

This incident alone calls into question that premise and argument. All that's needed is to just read the headline and the one partial quote from the article. Video at site.

Seven San Francisco cops fire at least 65 shots in 15 seconds at murder suspect in dramatic video

"Nobody was struck by gunfire..."

Authorities in San Francisco released body camera videos on Tuesday of a dramatic shootout in which police officers fired their weapons at least 65 times in 15 seconds at a murder suspect.

"Nobody was struck by gunfire during this incident. The evidence in the case so far indicates Armstrong fired two rounds from a weapon, and that seven officers fired 65 rounds from their department-issued weapons," SFPD Commander Greg McEachern told KTVU.

Like those NYC cops that blazed away, only hitting a bystander, not the suspect.

Seems thie vaunted "training" is in emptying your firearm as fast as possible.  Shades of the old army "spray and pray" technique.

"Need more ammo training, need more ammo training"

Brannard said  "they go through training every year".
I could say without a doubt  that most on this board train more than once a year.
